The Senior Outpatient Compliance Manager manages a team of coding auditors assigned to audit and support quality coding for a group of clients.  The Sr. Manager oversees the day to day audit processes and operational functions within their teams to assure efficient operations as well as consistent understanding and application of coding policies and audit practices. The Sr. Manager will audit the quality of the auditors to assure quality of audit results and that appropriate education and feedback is provided to coders.  The Sr. Manager will coordinate with clients and leadership in coding operations, collaborate with the team and other managers within Compliance to develop coder and auditor ongoing and periodic education. The Sr. Manager will also respond to client audits and other internal and external audit requests as well as coordinate with operations on implementation of coder Corrective Action Plans. 
 
The Sr. Manager develops and maintains relationships within the Compliance team and with Coding Operations Managers and is responsible for delivering audit services outlined in client contracts.  Sr. Manager reports to the Senior Director of Coding Quality and Audit.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

Minimum of 10 years auditing / coding experience
3 years minimum of personnel management experience
Technical understanding of healthcare and health information industry practices and Electronic Medical Systems as well as coding knowledge of ICD-10-CM.
Proficient in application of Outpatient coding rules, coding guidelines, policies, processes and practices
Extensive experience with various Electronic Health Records
RHIA, RHIT or CCS and/or professional services – CCS-P or CPC,
Must maintain active coding credential by obtaining qualifying CEU’s as needed
Expert in all aspects of professional and facility Outpatient Coding
Preferred Qualifications:

Able to communicate effectively and professionally with all levels of employees and managers, both verbally and in writing
Present a positive image/demeanor
Ability to oversee, provide support to others and or manage multiple projects simultaneously
Highly knowledgeable and experienced in the areas of ICD-10-CM and ICD-10 coding systems and proficient across a wide range of services offered in the outpatient setting
Extensive knowledge of regulatory guidelines governing Optum360 clients
Lead, contribute and participate as a member of Compliance toward the completion of goals and offers suggestions for improvements in processes
Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
Maintain HIM/ coding related certification through American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) to include, RHIA, RHIT and/or CCS
Exceptional technical skills in most software applications such as Excel, Word and Outlook and ability to trouble shoot technical issues and reach out to the right contacts for assistance
Excellent understanding of HIPAA confidentiality rules
