About this job

Pratt & Whitney has created the next generation of forecasting systems. Pratt & Whitney's Engine Data & Forecasting organization has recently rolled out a major upgrade of our primary forecasting tool as well as a multi-echelon, multi-indenture inventory and part forecasting optimization tool.

Key Responsibilities:

You will be a member of a small (5 to 10) person team responsible for the execution of a standardized forecasting process for the F135 engine program. Members of the forecasting team use discrete event computer simulation and modeling techniques to conduct probabilistic fleet supportability assessments and probabilistic forecasts of jet engine and component failure/maintenance. This forecasting process provides long term estimates of engine maintenance and material required to support this maintenance.

You will learn the use of these state of the art tools and help the organization plan for the future based on the forecasts that you produce.

Your analytic, project management, and interpersonal skills will be critical for mining these forecasts for trends and biases.

Your technical skills and creativity will be needed to define metrics for measuring forecast accuracy and to recommend and implement process improvements.

Specific responsibilities include:

1. Define study variables,

2. Gather, clean and validate data,

3. Develop software simulation models of jet engine utilization and logistics support processes,

4. Analyze results to understand sensitivity to variables and evaluate support system performance,

5. Create recommendations for support system changes and optimization, and

6. Organize simulation results in effective presentations for customers and management.

Activities also include supporting members of Customer Support Engineering, Maintenance Services, and Reliability groups with ad-hoc studies and reports to understand the impact of field problems and engineering changes. Qualifications Demonstrated ability to produce quality work with minimal supervision and within short timeframes.

Demonstrated ability to convert Ground Rules and Assumptions into actionable data, computer processes, and/or forecasts.

The candidate will be required to demonstrate a strong ability to automate the extraction and manipulation of data (i.e. Excel, Access).

Experience with MCA preferred or other Supply Chain Management / inventory optimization tool. Demonstrated ability to translate business requirements and queries into MCA reports, constraints, and/or objectives.

C++, Python, Simulation, Modeling, Discrete Event Simulation, Queueing Theory, Optimization highly beneficial.

The position requires a strong understanding of and interaction with computer mathematical modeling processes as applied to simulation modeling and analysis. Strong documentation skills are critical. Familiarity with optimization is a plus.

An ability to obtain security clearance is necessary and U.S. Citizenship is required. Education Minimum of bachelor's degree in a mathematically focused field (Computer Science, Mathematics, Operations Research, Engineering, etc.), plus 4-7+ years experience, or Master's with 2-5+ years, or PhD with 0-2+ years.
