In this new role, the primary focus will be on exploring business improvement opportunities within the pricing and behavioral/EAP business. The candidate will have excellent technical skills, experience working with big data and a thirst for exploring business improvement opportunities. In addition, they will serve as a backup support analyst for behavioral and EAP pricing during peak busy periods.
 
The candidate will learn the basics of behavioral by seasoned underwriters and then work directly with VPs and Directors to brainstorm ideas for improving the business. Examples include analyzing the correlation of EAP and Behavioral utilization, reviewing public sector encounter data to understand competitor mixed service protocol definitions, and/or reviewing RFP 'Big Data' to understand network comparison vs competitors.
 
Primary Responsibilities:


Interpret and analyze claims, premium, capitation, membership and provider data in support of financial, clinical, medical, operational,  and utilization analyses

Create and update automated processes within client databases

Assessing and pricing the financial risk associated with group or individual prospective and renewing cases

Reviews the work of others

Develops innovative approaches

Technical Proficiencies:

Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
SAS
Tableau
MS Office Suite (including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
 
 

Requirements

Required Qualifications:


Bachelor's degree in Math, Finance, Business or related degree

Proficiency in performing data analysis

Ability to quickly learn and use computer software tools effectively

2+ years of work experience in a corporate setting

At least an intermediate level of proficiency with SQL, SAS and/or other statistical programs

At least an intermediate level of proficiency working with MS Excel including formulas, calculations, charts, graphs, etc
Preferred Qualifications:


1+ years of health care experience working with claims data and medical codes

Excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing

Proficiency in performing data analytics
