Surgery Nurse Educator - Full-time

An award-winning community hospital in Southern Pennsylvania is currently looking for an experienced OR Nurse to join their Surgery Team as an OR Nurse Educator.

This teaching hospital has offers a full range of services, including Wound Care, inpatient and outpatient surgery, a ER capable of high volumes, Behavioral Health services and maternity. They are also stable and growing. They recently renovated, adding fully private patient rooms and a new, expanded Catheterization Lab.

The Nurse Educator will work primary in the Operating Room. The OR is pretty busy, averaging 10k procedures last year. Their major service lines include orthopedics, ENT, Robotics, Plastics and Urology. The last 5-10 years at this hospital has seen Surgical Services grow in volume. As a result, the hospital has invested in the OR, with new technology and equipment. They offer some of the most cutting edge services and procedures with up-to-date technology.

The Surgery Nurse Educator will report to the Director of Professional Development and be responsible for on-boarding and orienting new nurses, assessing tenured nurses and provide needed education and skills training, lead quality improvement initiatives, act as a clinical expert and role model in OR and collaborate with other Educators and leaders within the hospital to advance nursing practice.

This Perioperative Nurse Educator position is located in South Central Pennsylvania, very close to the border of Maryland. Commuting from Maryland is a possibility. This is a very family friendly area, with good schools and lots of activities. It is also close to the bigger cities of Baltimore or DC, for weekend trips and visits.
