About this job

  • Create technical drawings for building construction, primarily security and communications per specifications, methods and codes.
  • Maintain high quality standards with drafting consistencies and low error rating.
  • Makes recommendations on practices and techniques to optimize delivery efficiencies.
  • Manage and develop new procedures to optimize the drawing process.
  • Show competencies in several disciplines to meet deadlines.
  • Generates other standard prints such as fiber charts, splice diagrams, and detail drawings as necessary.
  • Incorporates geographic and fiber information from engineering notes to drawings, diagrams, and/or maps.
  • Generates new permit, engineering, construction and as-built drawings and/or maps, and edits existing ones as requested.
  • Consult with G4S engineers, project managers, field personnel and subcontractor for information required for design, completion of as-built drawing packages and submittals.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervision.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Associates degree in Computer Aided Drafting or equivalent and two years working experience in the field of CADD operations or an acceptable equivalent in education and experience.  Should also have a strong working knowledge with AutoCAD and the Windows environment.  Knowledge of other software programming such as BIM and Revit are helpful. If required by job responsibilities, the incumbent must possess a valid driver’s license.

The incumbent will likely require U.S. Department of Defense secret level clearance if the department or work location deals with security installation work.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret engineering and construction drawings and specifications, common scientific and technical journals, and other documents.  Communicates effectively in both oral and written English technical language, both in interpreting requirements and providing reports and mentoring.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent is regularly required to sit; use hand and fingers, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.  The incumbent may be required to travel to local and/or distant sites, walk on construction sites in rough terrain, and climb ladders and facilities under construction.  The incumbent is occasionally required to stand for long periods of time.  The incumbent may be required to lift and/or move up to 10 lbs.  And occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in an office environment.  There is low to moderate noise in this work environment.
