What is VIP? The Variable Incentive Program is a nursing pool developed by CHI Health & Avantas, specifically for flexible nurses who desire the experience of providing high quality care to patients across multiple nursing departments. These incentivized shifts reflect the needs not covered by Core Staff and the Scheduled Resource Team.

How will my rate of pay for the VIP be determined? Your base rate, shift, weekend and holiday differentials are identical to full and part-time employees. Merit increases are given in an identical manner as for all core staff members. Because VIP is designed to value experience and flexibility the Commitment and Incentive pay is as follows:

* Commitment: 24 hours every 2 pay periods (4 weeks)

* Pay Incentive is paid for all scheduled direct patient care hours worked, up to 60 hours per week.

* Tech Incentives: $1-5 per hour.

* LPN Incentives: $1-20 per hour.

* RN Incentives: $1-20 per hour

* Required to work in all Inpatient Medical Surgical, Step Down, Critical Care, on-site Behavioral and at a minimum on-site Ante/Post-Partum in Women's Services.

VIP is for you, if you wish to:

* Be rewarded for your experience and flexibility by working in multiple nursing departments within a hospital.

* Have flexibility in building your own schedule. May select shifts from 6 hours to 30 days in advance. Day, Evenings, Nights and Weekends available, along with 4, 8 and 12 hour shifts.

Job Summary:

This position works under the supervision of the Team Coordinator and reports to the Director and/or Management Council. The Nursing Assistant provides support for the direct management of the patient's environment and activities of daily living under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse.

Essential Duties:

* Participates in patient's immediate environment.

* Participates in patient nutrition.

* Prepares patient rooms for admission.

* Participates in patient's activities of daily living and provides clinical support within level of preparation.

* Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on the physical, psychosocial, safety and related criteria appropriate to the age of the patients served.

* Works directly with patient in planning and implementing patient's activities of daily living including but not limited to: bathing, hygiene, ambulation, transporting, pre- and post-op care (including surgical preps), and dismissal functions to promote and maintain health.

* Adheres to Nursing Structure and Process Standards and the patient's plan of care in providing patient care.

* Performs selected procedures and treatments.

* Orients the patient and family to the room, department, policies, and schedules.

* Assists the Nurse to maintain observations of patients by anticipating and responding to patient needs and processing call lights.

* Ensures that the Nurse remains informed of patient status and activities.

* Documents routine elements of care in the medical record

* Collects and documents patient data.

* Maintains patient confidentiality.

* Participates in the patient discharge as directed by the physician.

* Customer Service:

* Receives, greets and directs patients, family members, clients, visitors and physicians in a positive and conscientious manner adhering to our Embrace the Spirit standards and behaviors. Problem-solve, offer and give assistance as needed.

* Acknowledging internal and external customers with eye contact and a smile.

* Phones are answered promptly with a friendly voice using a proper greeting.

* Ability to prioritize, organize and effectively handle multiple tasks and interruptions in a positive manner.

Education:

1. High school graduate or equivalent required.

2. Medical Terminology preferred.

3. Approved Certified Nurse Assistant Course (CNA).

4. Approved training for clerical functions if performing marginal job functions that are clerical in nature.

Licensure/Certification:

1. Currently on the Nebraska Nurse Aide Registry.

2. Currently on the Medication Aide Registry or obtain training, complete competency and be registered on the Medication Aide Registry within 30 days of hire.

3. Maintain Medication Aide Registry status with demonstrated competency every two years.

4. Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Experience/Pre-Requisites:

1. Prior Nurse Assistant experience preferred.

2. Must be able to work from detailed verbal or written instructions and uses judgment for routine situations.
