Providence is calling a Lab Assistant 2/Inpatient Phlebotomist (1.0 FTE, Rotating/Variable) to Providence Seaside Hospital in Seaside, OR.

The primary duties of this position is as a Lab Assistant 2 but will also have responsibilities doing inpatient draws for a 25 bed hospital. This is an excellent position for someone looking to grow their skills in all aspects of the labs within a patient centered and compassionate team.

In this position, you will:

* Be responsible for the accurate and timely pre-analytical functions of specimen receipt; labeling and processing of laboratory specimens; and, the appropriate handling and/or disbursement of laboratory data and patient results.

* Work with acute care and outpatient caregivers, vendors, consultants and other laboratory services staff in performing their duties.

* Provide support to multiple laboratory personnel and be integral to maintaining the integrity of patient specimens in order to provide accurate and timely patient care.

* Be responsible for registering outpatient laboratory encounters obtaining complex demographic, insurance, and medical information.

* Maintain up to date knowledge and competency on required registration functions.

* Utilize multiple computer applications in order to establish patient accounts.

Required qualifications for this position include:

* High school diploma or equivalent

* 1 year of industry related coursework or experience AND/OR certification from an accredited phlebotomy or medical assistant program

* Proficiency in the use of personal computer and multiple business software applications

* Knowledge of specimen handling and collection requirements, general laboratory workflow, and basic medical terminology

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

* College level coursework

* Industry related coursework or work experience in phlebotomy, medical assisting or laboratory experience

* Certification from an approved government agency or nationally recognized professional organization (e.g. ASCP AMT, etc.)

* Registrar experience
