The Vice President, Store Planning & Design, provides strategic team leadership for Burlington’s store planning & design needs to deliver 40-60 new store openings and 30-50 remodels per year. Leads the extensive daily operations and establishes required standards for designs, plans, and specifications to ensure consistent execution of projects. Provides functional and technical expertise for cross-department collaboration and in support of numerous company initiatives.
  • Develop a Vision and Long-Range-Plan in conjunction with SVP. Maintain a strategic approach: develop innovative processes to improve consistency, effectiveness & efficiencies; establish and manage KPIs to drive business success and LRP.

  • Directs internal Store Planners, Architects, Store Designers, and Administrative Assistants to achieve department goals and the successful completion of retail and non-retail programs. Retail programs include: Innovation, Prototype Development, New Stores, Remodels and Capital Projects. Non-Retail includes Corporate Facilities.

  • Directs external Design Consultants, Prototype Architects & Engineers, Site-Adapt Architects & Engineers, and Global Vendor Partners to achieve department goals and the successful completion of retail and non-retail programs.

  • Lead internal teams in the development of “cost-effective” and “quality of solutions” thru all phases of the development process: Programming, Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Documents & Specifications, and Construction Administration. Store Environment work product includes: Architectural Exteriors, Innovation, Store Planning, Store Design, Space Planning, Architectural Interiors, Store Fixturing, Energy, Lighting, Sustainability, Code Compliance, etc.

  • Serve as Store Planning & Design functional expert in support of numerous company initiatives aimed at driving “brand-right” and cost-effective incremental growth. Initiatives may include: volume building component purchasing, design-to-value, value-engineering, and sustainable building design.

  • Provide leadership, coordination, and communication role with all partners involved in the store development process, including: Real Estate, Legal, Construction, Merchandise Presentation, Finance, Facilities, Operations, IT, Loss Prevention, Architects, Landlord’s, General Contractors, etc.


Education:

· Bachelor’s degree in related field is required

Licenses/Certification/Registration:

· CAD proficiency

Experience:

· 7-10 years in senior leadership role

· 5+ years retail industry experience

· 10+ years’ experience in Store Planning role with major brand

· Senior Level experience in the profession of large scope projects

Skills and Abilities:
