The Assistant Manager supports the General Manager in effectively and efficiently managing a restaurant within the policies and guidelines of the Company to ensure guest satisfaction, profit maximization and development of high –performing work teams which consist of shift managers and team members. This position reports to the General Manager. Qualifications include: at least two years of experience in the quick service industry, a minimum of two years experience supervising others and a high school education.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for overall operation of restaurant as entire unit including employees, customers, and all financial results.  
  • Communicates effectively and works with other management and personnel to run and execute Company goals and programs
  • Handles equipment safety and maintenance checks on a daily basis
  • Follows proper cash-handling procedures, reviews /monitors expenditures to ensure they conform to budget limitation
  • Aids in staffing concerns including hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, and discipline or termination of employees.
  • Promotes a cooperative effort, team spirit, and good morale among employees, and develops employees in areas needed for their advancement
  • Assists with purchasing all product within required time guidelines
  • Complies with all health and safety regulations, enforces proper practices, performs daily inspections and periodic audits to check safety of equipment and to ensure that sanitary practices for food handling, general cleanliness, and maintenance of kitchen and dining areas are being followed. 

Leadership:

  • Communicating and modeling company standards and policies
  • Implementing directives from store, corporate, and divisional management
  • Training and coaching employees for employee and company growth and future needs

Supervisory Responsibility:

  • This position oversees 20-35 store employees including shift managers and team members

Work Environment:

  • The Job operates in a Fast Casual restaurant environment. The role routinely uses grills, fryers, point of sale operating systems and office equipment

Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, sitting, walking, bending, Kneeling and reaching the entire time scheduled. The employee must lift and/or move items that weigh up to 30 pounds a minimum of twice an hour.

Position Type and Expected Hours:

  • This is an hourly position which reports to the General Manager. Days and hours of work vary by schedule. Evening, night and weekend work is required as schedule demands.

Position Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Previous restaurant experience or equivalent experience with Monument Restaurants d/b/a Five Guys Burgers and Fries.
  • Previous management experience preferred with successful completion of our progressive corporate training program required. 
  • Good organizational, time-management, and decision-making skills and accuracy to deal with a variety of duties and staff and to prepare reports according to schedule.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Certification from Five Guys Enterprises and Serve Safe required (training provided and paid for by Company). 
  • Pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
