The Opportunity
The Level 1 Technician will provide first level technical support to end users on a diverse range of systems in production at the property. Interface with all levels of Customer Support Engineers, VARs, OEMs, end-users & internal departments.
Essential Functions:
- Provide first level troubleshooting of systems and hardware to end users
- Ability to logically identify, isolate, and formulate resolutions to root causes of systems issues
- Ability to quickly learn new systems in a fast paced environment
- Capable of effectively prioritizing tasks under pressure situations
- Extensive knowledge of Windows desktop operating systems
- Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office Suites
- Effectively determine when to escalate support requirements to a Level 2 technician
- Properly maintain and follow all departmental forms, logs, controls, and safety procedures
- Provide basic troubleshooting of network issues related to PC/Server connectivity
- Willingness to extend capabilities of knowledge through independent study, on the job mentoring and formalized training
- Provide a high level of customer service to guests of Wheeling Island through knowledge of property layout and onsite events
- Role model the GuestPath Universal Service Standards interacting positively through relationships with guests, fellow associates and members of the management team displaying genuine concern and mutual respect for people’s needs
- Effectively interface with all levels of the Wheeling Island organization
- Ability to work independent of and with minimal management supervision
- Provide written status reporting to management and end users
- Demonstrated ability to bridge the communications gap between technical issues and non-technical business users
- Perform other duties as assigned by Management
Experience Required:
- 6 months of experience preferred.
- Bachelor;s degree preferred not required.
- Knowledge and understanding of a call center environment
- Knowledge of networks, ports, routers, TCP/IP internet protocols, and all windows based operating systems
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Exceptional troubleshooting, customer service, listening and communications skills
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Level 2 West Virginia Lottery Table Games License
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a West Virginia Racing Commission License
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 70 pounds
- Ability to stand or walk for long periods of time
Environmental Working Conditions:
- May be exposed to secondhand smoke
- May be exposed to high volume noise
- May be exposed to fumes/odors/dust/dirt
