Job Overview:

The Bloomingdale’s social media team is responsible for reaching and engaging with the next generation of shoppers. Through content, campaigns and activations, we spark social conversations about Bloomingdale’s among fans around the globe. As the Community Editor, you will shape these conversations—with our customers, fans, vendors, store shoppers, marketing partners and brand critics—and you will bring the voice of the social customer inside the organization. Through strategic listening, responsiveness, content creation and on-the-fly problem solving you will drive results for Bloomingdale’s, growing an engaged conversation with key constituencies to expand our earned-media reach, deepen loyalty and exceed the expectations of our brand.

Essential Functions:

• Proactively and reactively engage with our social communities across the following channels: Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, Pinterest, Tumblr, Houzz, Google+ and Spotify.
• Partner with agencies and cross-functional team to ensure community and customer needs shared on social media are swiftly acknowledged and, if needed, that resolution processes are followed.
• Escalate sensitive or accusatory user feedback to relevant internal stakeholders.
• Coordinate and trouble-shoot always-on social monitoring teams.
• Consistently and accurately communicate in the brand voice, evolving our creative guidelines as necessary.
• Maximize in-channel opportunities to amplify and engage with high-value vendors, social influencers, the news media and other parties.
• Support local store initiatives to stimulate and measure social sharing from shoppers.
• Develop and execute tactics to elevate, celebrate and syndicate our brand’s high-value social advocates.
• Coordinate community-facing initiatives such as sweepstakes, activations, and in-store content creation.
• Partner with Media Strategist to leverage social listening data.
• Contribute to social media programming by gaining early awareness of community interests and presenting editorial opportunities to Content Director.
• Support content creation, posting and production needs of team as needed.
• Understand Bloomingdale’s business goals, how they are supported by social media, and associated social media measurement targets.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

• Bachelors degree in marketing, journalism, communications or advertising preferred.
• Minimum two years of social media marketing and/or community management experience;
• Background in retail or media highly desirable, as is a demonstrated knowledge of and passion for the fashion industry and Bloomingdale’s;
• Luxury/lifestyle digital marketing experience preferred.

Communication Skills:

• Strong online and offline verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present ideas and information clearly and ability to write in various styles for diverse audiences;
• Requires a blend of creativity, social media savvy, exceptional writing skills and attention to detail;
• Strong instincts for identifying and generating visual and written content that is “brand-right”.

Reasoning Ability:

• Outgoing and social by nature, with a strong sense of empathy for the customer experience in stores and online
• The ability to work quickly and shift gears on a dime
• A nimble, creative thinker and problem-solver who is calm under pressure
• Exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills

Other Skills:

• Enterprise-level technical experience managing communities across all major social platforms
• Extremely collaborative
• Ability to work cross functionally with the confidence and experience to engage effectively at all levels
• A mind for process and talent for coordinating stakeholders on deadline
• Early adopter of new social tools and technologies

Work Hours:

• Ability to work outside of regular business hours.
