As a member of the professional staff, contributes general knowledge and skill in a discipline area (Risk Management / Insurance) to support team and/or department objectives. Generally works independently or as part of a team environment.


Specific Job Summary

The Insurance Analyst I administers critical elements of Marriott International’s (MI’s) insurance programs including day to day operational elements of Marriott’s insurance programs, contract review, coverage analysis, and renewal submission. Coordinate, develop, and manage day-to-day issues regarding MI’s global property insurance web page content and design. The position requires a detail-oriented person with excellent written, analytical, organizational and verbal communication skills, as well as a demonstrated commitment to the risk management discipline.

Specific Expected Contributions
  • Support and coordinate with MI Law Department by analyzing and negotiating contractual insurance and indemnity provisions
  • Management of day-to-day insurance issues for Marriott brands including insurance support, coverage issues and contract negotiation
  • Maintain insurance schedules and ensure timely and proper issuance of insurance binders, invoicing and policies
  • Work with brokers to issue certificate of insurance, coverage summaries or similar document
  • Organize and develop insurance presentations and/or summaries for internal or external clients
  • Review and reconcile invoicing and allocation with the insurance accounting group
  • Assists the insurance team with the collection and reconciliation of renewal exposure information for company’s insurance programs
  • Manage and organize insurance database as well as department database housing all detailed information for each insurance program within the Marriott Risk Management Information System (RMIS)
  • Interpret insurance clauses under franchise and management agreements
  • Ability to explain insurance coverages and contractual provisions to customers
  • Monitor of the insurance provided by Marriott’s hotels to ensure contractual compliance. Notify appropriate parties of deficiencies as appropriate
  • Manage and maintain hotel and policy data information for policy upload into department database housing all detailed information for each insurance program within the Marriott Risk Management Information System (RMIS)
  • Support insurance managers, with contractual review and risk analysis of vendors’/concessionaires’ exposures including medium and high hazard activities (Business Case Analysis)
  • Obtain, analyze and assimilate renewal data
  • Teach and assist operations with certificate review and coverage analysis
  • Ensure day-to-day broker issues are handled in a timely and appropriate manner
  • Special Projects as needed
  • Performs other duties as appropriate
Candidate Profile

Successful candidates should possess knowledge and experience and demonstrate strong leadership and relationship skills as follows:
  • Bachelor’s degree in risk management or a bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • At least three years of relevant corporate risk management, insurance underwriting, or brokerage experience
  • Strong database management skills
  • Excellent communication, telephone, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated proficiency of Microsoft Office 365 including Excel, MS Word, Outlook, Access, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Prior ARM and/or CPCU coursework encouraged
  • Experience with foreign operations or multi-lingual skills a plus
  • Strong interpersonal skills to influence and communicate effectively with insurance and non-insurance professionals
