Individuals in this position will function at an associate level in a 24/7/365 operations environment, ensuring the security and protection of systems data and analyzing and implementing procedures to ensure the protection, conservation, and accountability of proprietary, personal, or privileged electronic data. The individuals will work directly with other teams and departments, analyzing issues/incidents, establishing/working war rooms, diagnosing issue severity, computing problem resolution and recovery. These individuals will resolve or work with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to resolve issues. If unable to do so, they will, in collaboration with the SMEs, determine the escalation of issues.

This position requires the ability to work hours mirroring the hours of teammates, as directed, typically starting at 3:30Â PM CDT. This position will also require availability to work on-call and non-standard hours when necessary.

The IT Cybersecurity Associate will provide operational support to and reports to the IT Cybersecurity Manager.
Â
Primary Responsibilities:Â
Serves as a cybersecurity associate, working under supervision and alone, with analysts, or with SMEs, to determine the severity and complexity of issues pertaining to the security and protection of systems data, to ensure the protections, conservation and accountability of proprietary, personal, or privileged electronic data
Monitors and responds to security incidents, offering collaboration in an effort to ensure prompt and effective resolution
Assists in the determination for and establishment of War Rooms and monitoring War Room activities
Assists in the determination for escalation of issues
Collaborates with director, managers, project managers, architects, and other individuals to ensure continuity and communication across teams
Collaborates with director, managers, and other technical personnel to ensure mitigation of risks to the company
Promotes continued integration of technological advances to further enhance security and reduce risks
Self-motivated individual with highly developed organizational skills
Monitors security issues/incidents to ensure all pertinent troubleshooting activities are dispensed, as well as ensure security updates, patches, and preventive measures are in place
Anticipates customers’ needs and proactively develops solutions to meet them
Analyze issues, identify areas of concern, and formulate action/recovery plans
Work hours are 3:30 PMÂ through 12:00 AM CDTÂ Monday through Friday

Requirements
Required Qualifications:
Experience/knowledge in IT (application or infrastructure side)
Ability to troubleshoot in highly complex and technical situations
United States Citizenship
Ability to obtain favorable adjudication following submission of Department of Defense eQuip Form SF86
Preferred Qualifications:
Ability to identify and mitigate security issues/incidents
Undergraduate degree in applicable area of expertise and/or equivalent experience
Experience in a large matrixed organization
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability and desire to pursue certifications pertinent to area of expertise
Ability to obtain and keep required (government and other) security clearances
Strong planning and problem-solving skills
As a requirement of UnitedHealth Group’s contract with the Department of Defense, this position requires U.S. citizenship and proof of favorable adjudication following submission of Department of Defense eQuip Form SF86, (the National Agency Check Legal and Credit or NACLC). Successful completion of the NACLC process is a requirement for continued employment in this role. NACLC processing will be initiated by our TRICARE Security Officer post-offer, and can take 3-6 months for a final decision communication from the Department of Defense. Candidates will be allowed to begin employment with UnitedHealth Group in this role based on an interim clearance, and final results will be communicated as they are received. Failure to obtain final NACLC approval will result in termination from this role.
