The Location:
806-bed teaching hospital that is spread across the 58-acre Sandra Atlas Bass Campus. The hospital is one of the cornerstones of the Health System and is academically affiliated with the Hofstra North Shore-LIJ School of Medicine, employing a staff of more than 6,000. North Shore University Hospital provides a comprehensive continuum of inpatient and outpatient services for adults and children.

Position Requirements : 

• Holds a current license as a registered professional nurse and complies with any applicable state statutory or requirements concerning the advanced practice of nursing
• Graduation from a program of nurse anesthesia education accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (COA) or its predecessor
• Complies with one of the following requirements regarding certification; or initial certification or recertification:
  • Meets requirements above and is awaiting on initial certification; or
  • Is currently certified by the AANA Council on Certification of Nurse Anesthetists or it predecessor; or 
  • Is currently recertified by the AANA Council on Recertification of Nurse Anesthetists

FUN FACTS ABOUT MANHASSET, NY

Manhasset is a hamlet and census-designated place on the North Shore of Long Island in the Town of North Hempstead in Nassau County, New York.  The community is served by the Manhasset School District.

The area was originally inhabited by the Matinecock, who had a village on Manhasset Bay.  The bay had had several names in past four centuries, including, Schout’s Bay (schout roughly translates to sheriff), Martin Garretson’s Bay, named after a schout, and later Cow Bay and Cow Harbor.  Due to the abundance of cow farmers on the land, by 1659 it was being called Little Cow Neck.  During the American Revolution, Little Cow Neck sided with the patriots.  In 1840 the name of the area was changed to Manhasset, from the Algonquin language meaning “neighbor island.”  The Long Island Railroad was expanded to Manhasset in 1898, which encouraged wealthy New Yorkers to build luxury homes in the area
