General Responsibilities:

Managing the accounting close process for the US and/or Other International Rent-A-Car (RAC) reporting entities, or car sales activity; assisting the Director US & Other International RAC in handling all related financial accounting information requirements for the RAC Business Partner COE and other groups as needed; partner with the Accounting Senior to oversee the supporting work activities of the Shared Service Providers (Hertz or BPO); manage the work required to satisfy our compliance with Hertz’s Sarbanes-Oxley program regarding the reporting entities results; ensure that monthly account reconciliations are prepared and reviewed in an accurate and timely manner.

Key Result Areas
  1. Manage the monthly and quarterly accounting close process for US RAC, Other International RAC reporting entities or Car Sales activities, ensuring all financial information is accurately reflected in the general ledger in compliance with GAAP.
  2. Manage the work of the Shared Service Providers (Hertz or BPO) for all accounting close inputs impacting the US and Other Int’l RAC monthly financial results and ensure they meet agreed upon performance metrics.
  3. Work with Region, certain International Controller teams, and Shared Service Providers (Hertz or BPO) to ensure that financial controls are established and maintained.
  4. Apprise management of all issues that may affect the Corporation’s financial results.
  5. Provide insight and analysis regarding the monthly and quarterly financial results to the RAC Business Partner team as needed.
  6. Provide insight into actual financial results to the FP&A COE, as needed, as it relates to their preparation of the monthly Current Estimate and Annual Business Plan.
  7. Assist Accounting Director in coordinating interim and year external audit work and internal and external SOX testing for US RAC.
  8. Help ensure accounting staff and Shared Service Providers (Hertz or BPO) perform their job responsibilities in accordance with Hertz Policies and Procedures.
  9. Review and approve all journal entries prepared by either RAC Accounting staff or Shared Service Providers (Hertz or BPO) and include proper supporting documentation.
  10. Review and approve all account reconciliations on a timely basis.
  11. Review, approve and implement all accounting policy changes.
  12. Ensure that Hertz Policies and Procedures are implemented and followed by department members at all times.
  13. Ensure that proper segregation of duties and controls are maintained.
  14. Prepare Quarterly Balance Sheet Flux Analysis for North America RAC
  15. Assist internal and external audit review of financial statements and SOX testing.
  16. Provide professional management and guidance to field finance staff


Mandatory Requirements:

Educational Background:

BS Accounting

CPA preferred; MBA preferred

Professional Experience:

Big 4 audit experience preferred

3+ years of related work experience

Direct experience in managing request from external auditors

Knowledge:
  • Demonstrated ability to manage the above responsibilities and sufficiently direct the work of others
  • Proven experience in developing and managing a sound internal control environment in a large multi-national company

Skills:
  • Good technical accounting and financial reporting skills; well grounded in US GAAP
  • Demonstrated analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
