User Experience Designer - IOT, Connected Devices and Mobile - Full-time / Part-time

Located in Oakland's Jack London Square, A3Ventures is the innovation lab and capital investment engine of AAA. We anticipate needs and shape innovations to help people make sense of our rapidly changing world.

As the User Experience Designer, you will be a core part of an agile and passionate team charged with developing, incubating, and launching a portfolio of businesses that:

Who you are.

You are a user designer with experience crafting and delivering wildly successful products and mobile apps for the connected home, connected home, or personal wearables devices. You have passion for the internet of things and you understand the unique design opportunities inherent in experiences that span hardware and software. We're looking for people with a broad base of skills, a track record of success, and a penchant for creating products that people love.

What you'll do:

You will lead user experience design in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team effort to identify, scope, pilot and launch new products and services.

  Ideate. Contribute to the ideation and launching of new products, including primary user research, prototyping and concept validation.
  
• 
  Build solutions. Work closely with product managers to identify, prototype and build potential solutions.
  
• 
  Learn and build again. Based on insights from primary user research, iterate on the design to create experiences that delight users, deliver business results for A3V and the AAA member base of today and tomorrow.
  
• 
  Bring design thinking to A3V. Bring the designer's toolkit to help us solve human problems with human-centered solutions, tools, and approaches. Use your design skills to facilitate internal processes that lead to exceptional outcomes.
  
• 
  Manage people. Manage a mix of in-house and vendor relationships to execute each project.
  

What you have done:

• 
  Five or more years of UX design experience, preferably with experience designing internet-of-things solutions across connected devices and mobile applications
  
• 
  Expertise in UX software such as InVision, UXPin, Balsamiq, Framer.js, Quartz Composer, and the like is a must. Basic HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript skills are a plus.
  
• 
  Ability to work with the team to understand detailed requirements and design complete user experiences that meet our business needs and vision.
  
• 
  Extensive experience in using UX design best practices to design solutions, and a deep understanding of mobile-first and responsive design.
  
• 
  A solid grasp of human-centered design and testing methodologies.
  
• 
  Ability to iterate your designs and solutions efficiently and intelligently.
  
• 
  Be willing to help teammates, share knowledge and experience with them, and learn from them.
  
• 
  Be open to receiving feedback and constructive criticism.
  
• 
  Be passionate about all things UX and other areas of design and innovation. Research and showcase knowledge in the industry's latest trends and technologies.
