About this job

Provides nursing care according to thenursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementing andevaluating. Implements appropriatenursing care interventions. Administersmedications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and establishednursing policies and procedures. Careprovided is based on defined standards of patient care and nursing evidence-basedpractice.

1. Assumes personalresponsibility for maintaining professional development, certification,credentialing, licensure, practice and education.

2. Accurately assessespatient status according to patient assessment standards, policies andprocedures. This includes completion ofadmission history, initial shift assessment, and indicated reassessments.

3. In collaboration withthe physician and interdisciplinary team prioritizes patient's needs andparticipates in the development of plan of care. The care plan is reflective of pertinentproblems and is reviewed at least every 24 hours.

4. Demonstrates proficiencyand skill in providing care to patients.

5. Administersmedications, IV therapy, and treatments in compliance with policies andprocedures.

6. Demonstrates abilityto assess patients quickly and prioritize patient according to the assessment:non-urgent, urgent, emergent.

7. Demonstrateseffective on-going observations and reassessment of patient/family and theirresponse to the interventions and changes in condition.

8. Documents assessments andinterventions in accordance with hospital policy and standards of care.

Education /Accreditation / Licensure (required & preferred): Current RN license in the State of Kentucky; BSNpreferred. BLS required. ACLS and PALS preferred

Effective May 1, 2014, all new-hire Associate Degree Registered Nurses (new graduate and experienced) arerequired to start an approved BSN program within two years of hire and completean approved BSN program within five years of hire.

Experience(required and preferred): Graduate of anaccredited school of nursing required.
