US Citizenship is required. A security clearance is not required. The Optical Engineering group in Westford MA is looking for a summer 2017 intern. This position will help set-up, collect, and document lab optical tests in support of production and IRAD projects. These tasks include, but are not limited to, optical alignment, interferometry, resolution and MTF testing. In addition to the hands-on optical engineering lab support the intern may have the opportunity to help with optical analysis and/or computer programming tasks to support our on-going work. The computer based tasks will be assigned based on the intern's education level and aptitude and picked from a list of tasks funded at the time of the internship. Good technical documentation skills and a willingness to learn are a must for this position. On a day-to-day basis, the intern will be overseen and work with one of our five degreed optical engineers. The internship shall be a minimum of 10 weeks in length.

Qualifications Enrolled in Bachelor's degree program in Engineering and have completed 3rd year by the time of the internship or possess Bachelor's degree and enrolled in an advanced Engineering degree program.

Education Required Skills:

* MS Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, etc.)

Preferred Skills:

* Optical alignment of Cassegrain telescopes and off-axis parabolas.

* ZEMAX or CODEV optical design software.

* MetroPro, 4Sight, or Durango metrology software.

* Matlab or MathCad software
