An established manufacturing company headquartered in San Clemente is looking for an experienced International Transportation & Logistics Coordinator. This is a temporary position that is expected to last approximately two months. The pay is $17 to $20 an hour, based on experience.

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

Review, plan, and coordinate international shipments. Calculate cube / weight and recommend container size and load plan. Process air and ocean freight estimates. Coordinate with designated freight forwarder the booking of containers and air cargoes. Schedule live-loading of containers and generate necessary shipping documentation as required by USCBP and USITC agencies guidelines, as well as meeting governmental regulations established by country of destination. Identify international shipments that may require special documentation and handling. Assist in expediting international orders by maintaining communication between logistics operations and production supervisors in assembly / manufacturing floor. Maintain consistent interfacing with customer service and International Sales Support Specialist to communicate status and tracking of overseas shipments. Assist in other related duties as deemed necessary by Operations and Logistics Manager and as dictated by business needs.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

* Process air and LCL/FCL ocean freight estimates for overseas customers.

* Negotiate competitive rates with freight forwarders and select the most effective logistics providers to be used for overseas import/export shipments, based on cost and service levels.

* Coordinate and monitor all import/export shipments and ensure that cargoes move as scheduled.

* Ensure that import/export documentation meets legal compliance and adheres to governmental rules and regulation.
* Work with international freight forwarders, carriers, and brokers to resolve any issues that may arise and ensure that shipments reach their final destination on-time.

* On a regular basis, provide updates on status of in-transit shipments to the International Sales Support Specialist and Operations Manager.
* Coordinate and schedule the entire logistics process for international trade show shipments. Ensure that shipments meet cutoff and arrival to destination.

* Prepare import/export documentation in adherence with USCBP and USITC guidelines to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies.
* Maintain updated knowledge of all rules and regulations related to shipments of goods and as established by customs agencies at countries of destination.
* Generate certificates of origin as needed to stay in compliance with all US foreign trade agreements such as NAFTA, AUSFTA, CAFTA-DR, COTPA, etc.
* Assist in issuing Canadian VIN numbers and manufacturer’s certificates of origin for Scorpion trailers shipped to Canada.

* As needed, provide support for Logistics Coordinator to process freight estimates and prepare BOLs for domestic shipments.
* Assist in other related duties as deemed necessary by Operations and Logistics Manager and as dictated by business needs.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB

Education:

* Associates or Bachelor's Degree in international business, transportation, or supply chain management is preferred. Equivalent work experience may be considered in place of degree.

Experience:

* Minimum three years of experience in logistics, international transportation, and import/export related field.

* Solid knowledge of international shipping requirements and documentation, and thorough understanding of export/import governmental regulatory guidelines.

* Strong knowledge of import/export regulations including HTS / Schedule B classification, valuation, free trade agreement requirements, labeling, and other government agency requirements.

* Solid understanding and knowledge of Incoterms rules as published by the ICC.

* Transportation Management Software experience highly desired.

* Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)

Requirements:

* Ability to maintain effective communication between logistics / planning functions, customer service / sales, and production / manufacturing floor.

* Ability to work with and understand the challenges of a multi-site, fast-paced company.

* Strong organizational skills. Able to multi-task and solve problems in a timely manner.

* Detail-oriented with solid written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.

* Ability to work in a team environment and deliver results under reasonable stress conditions.

* Bilingual English – Spanish is highly desired
