JOB SUMMARY
Under general supervision, responsible for drafting and updating maps, charts and drawings for cable system requirements based on approved inputs as needed. Design cable system layout by calculating loss and gain characteristics of cable passive and active devices using standard industry and company specifications and practices.


MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience

Draft maps, charts, sketches, graphs and design details for lines extensions, rebuilds, reworks, new fiber nodes or other projects.

Organize and maintain print files, print reduction booklets, and project files.

Prepare blue prints and/or print reduction packages for distribution .

Perform site surveys of as-built and proposed projects when required.

Adhere to industry specific local, state, and federal regulations, as applicable.

Know, understand and follow company policy.

Perform other duties as requested by supervisor


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Skills/Abilities and Knowledge
Ability to read, write, and speak the English language to communicate with employees, customers, suppliers, in person, on the phone, and by written communications in a clear, straightforward, and professional manner
Ability to use personal computer and software applications Ability to work independently
Ability to prioritize and organize effectively
Ability to read general system layouts from blueprints
Ability to adhere to Local, Federal regulations and Company policies
Ability to drive Company vehicle in a safe and responsible manner
Knowledge and ability to use the following office equipment computer, telephone, copier, fax, calculator and stapler.
Knowledge of basic electrical theory, ohms law, series and parallel DC circuits, voltage drops and passive devices, National Electric Code and National Electrical Safety Code
Knowledge of basic mathematics and theory of geometry
Knowledge of Broadband RF design and theory
Knowledge of company products and services
Ability to accurately measure distances, using tapes or other measuring devices
Ability to use small hand tools
Ability to walk over all types of terrain in all kinds of weather while carrying tools and equipment, including fully loaded tool belts
Ability to differentiate between different sizes and colors of wires
Ability to dig in all types of soil
Ability to reach with hands and arms, to bend, to talk and hear
Ability to work while seated for prolonged periods of time.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Ability to work with drafting tools and instruments
Knowledge of drafting techniques and principles (i.e. various scale reductions)
Knowledge of company products and services

Education
High School Diploma or equivalent work experience
College course work or specialized training in drafting (AutoCAD, CAD Design)
Industry and vendor specific certifications and training (NCTI, SCTE, BCT/E)

Related Work Experience
1+ year experience in System design preferred

Certifications and/or Licenses
Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record within Company required standards
