A successful Broadcast Operations Tech III will have the following:

 

  • Associate’s degree and 3+ years of general work experience, or Associate’s and 1+ years of experience in a broadcast environment (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Must be able to stand, walk, and reach while performing the duties of this job.
  • Respond to audible and visual alarms.
  • Must be able to work any shift as assigned, as dictated by the needs of a 24/7 operation.
  • The ability to monitor services that include adult content without objections.
  • Ability to remain calm in a high pressure situation.
  • Strong communication skills, organized, and ability to multi-task.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior audio and video or electronics experience desired.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or other related degree.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office computer tools to access emails, enter data, access databases, etc.
  • Ability to write reports, correspondence, procedure manuals, and present the information to managers, other departments, customers and co-worker.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret operating manuals, instructions, and technical procedures.
  • Experience creating graphics.
  • Experience encoding, transcoding and associated gear.
  • Experience with contentment management systems and data.

Through our network of uplink centers, these world-class facilities are also home to DISH’s 24/7 traffic, technical operations, and satellite access centers. This team is comprised of experienced professionals dedicated to providing customers with an unparalleled level of service delivering content and programming to over 16 million subscribers every day.


DISH is seeking a Broadcast Operations Technician III for its Gilbert, AZ uplink facility to operate systems and perform technical quality control checks on all selected media within the Master Control environment.  The qualified individual will be a part of a team that will monitor, troubleshoot and resolve issues associated with the collection and re-transmission of signals in Standard & High Definition. This individual would manage live events as well as server playback of recorded material. The successful candidate will be able to adapt to rapidly changing technology providing the highest quality signal to our customers.

 

Primary responsibilities fall into the following categories:

  • Coordinate live event programming, troubleshoot problems involving signal path, media, programming, and logs.
  • Perform technical quality control checks on a variety of media.
  • Ingest, Encode, and Transcode content for several platforms such as PPV, VOD and IPVO.D.
  • Ensure effective communications and service excellence between Master Control and internal/external customers including program providers and corporate departments.
  • Report, review, and determine impact of outages and discrepancies; recommend or perform preventative/corrective actions.
  • Maintain logs and input data into established databases and assist in the development of new databases.
