Veterinary Diagnostic Specialist – Capital Equipment Sales

Engage our veterinary customers in sales related activities and related specifically to IDEXX’s In-house Diagnostic Analyzers (Capital Equipment) in conjunction with the IDEXX Veterinary Diagnostic Consultant (full product line sales rep) responsible for that customer.  By utilizing a strong consultative sales approach coupled with a proactive educational approach, you should be adept at positioning yourself as the trusted advisor or the partner to the Veterinarian, while at the same time being comfortable with the sales closing process for medical diagnostic capital equipment.  This should be done with IDEXX values and principles, including building customer loyalty.
 
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES\:
  • Sell IDEXX’s in-house Diagnostic analyzers throughout the sales region, selling new models to existing customers with older models, as well as converting competitive accounts.
  • Collaborate with the territory managers called “Veterinary Diagnostic Consultants” within the region who are selling the full product line for IDEXX, as this is a co-selling environment
  • Take the lead in mentoring reps and closing sales for analyzers, partnering with Veterinary Diagnostic Consultants providing technical expertise to Consultants and customers as required.
  • Leverage IDEXX’s “Points Program” which allows our customers to achieve discounts if they purchase other pieces of the portfolio
  • Complete sales administration responsibilities, including developing and maintaining account profiles, utilization of sales information system; timely sales information reporting; timely and accurate paperwork completion.
  • Achieve and continually build technical knowledge of products and services, technologies, operation and processes.
  • Attend trade shows and other educational commitments;
  • Represents IDEXX values to customers through professional presentation, understanding of the veterinary business and of customer needs, and excellent communication and follow through.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualification:
EDUCATION\:
  • Bachelors Degree in a Scientific or related discipline preferred; or an equivalent combination of related education and experience. 
  • Scientific or advanced studies a plus.
MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE\:
  • 5-8+ years of successful medical diagnostic capital equipment territory sales experience
  • Must have Capital Equipment sales experience, preferably within Veterinary but experience within Human Healthcare or Dental Sales is also highly compatible.
  • Must work great with others in a highly team oriented, collaborative sales environment, as well as enjoy a co-selling environment and enjoy mentoring others
Preferred Experience\:
  • Knowledge of veterinary industry and/or veterinary diagnostics preferred.
  • Manufacturer sales experience preferred
  • Prior experience selling medical diagnostic analyzers is preferred
SKILLS AND ABILITIES\:
  • Aptitude in selling technical medical capital equipment, preferably with experience selling diagnostic analyzers
  • Demonstrated strong sales and closing skills.
  • Utilizes creativity in problem solving, working easily with team partners to solve customer needs -- Strong collaboration & teamwork skills as this role works with multiple territory managers as a capital equipment specialist.
  • Documented track record of success in achieving sales goals.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and negotiate.
  • Ability to understand customer needs and develop customer specific solutions.
  • Must be professionally mature, and able to adapt to independent and team-oriented environment.
  • Integrity, keeping commitments to colleagues, customers and the company.
  • Solid computer skills and ability to utilize hand-held technologies, work within Salesforce and other sales related technical tools
  • Strong interpersonal skills – ability to build strong customer relationships, and build outstanding relationships with customers & colleagues.
  • Detailed and organized with the ability to multi-task.
  • Solid analytical skills with the ability to analyze and understand customer sales data.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
