TITLE: Fuel Center Clerk

BASIC PURPOSE AND FUNCTION: To provide courteous customer service by answering questions, solving problems and selling items such as: gasoline, candy, tobacco, cigarettes, beverages, automotive products, and all other products found in a convenience store. Maintain a clean and friendly working environment in and around the Fuel Center.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Maintains an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with an emphasis on fast, friendly, courteous customer service. Handles customer complaints, accepts "returns", and answers questions. Engages in suggestive selling.

Processes sales transactions for items such as: gasoline, automotive products, beverages, batteries, candy, tobacco and cigarettes. Is accountable for proper cash handling procedures and proper accounting of sales. Applies credit for defects to customer accounts.

May order product and perform receiving duties. Completes invoice transmittals. Stocks, faces, rotates and ensures proper pricing of Fuel Center merchandise. Works backstock and backroom. Dusts merchandise displays. Maintains a safe, neat and clean work area in and around the Fuel Center.

Operates related equipment such as: cash registers, computers, telephones, hand trucks, gasoline dispensers, tank monitors, and fountain equipment.

Responsible for performing all job duties with honesty and integrity.

SKILLS, PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

Ability to be friendly, courteous, tactful and maintain composure in dealing with customers and co-workers. Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing.

Ability to stand for long periods of time, walk and move rapidly, bend, stoop, kneel, twist and turn frequently. Ability to frequently reach, lift and maneuver items of varying dimensions and sizes up to approximately 25 lbs. Manual dexterity and good eye-hand coordination are necessary. Ability to push and pull fully loaded hand trucks.

Mental alertness is necessary to ensure accurate and thorough completion of work activities. Ability to learn all Fuel Center procedures. Ability to instruct others in the proper operation of gasoline dispensers and fountain equipment. Requires thorough knowledge of all Fuel Center products. Ability to do basic math and file alphabetically and numerically. Requires problem solving skills.

Ability to operate related equipment such as cash registers, computers, telephones, hand trucks, gasoline dispensers, tank monitors, and fountain equipment.

Working conditions consist of a temperature controlled store environment.
