LOCATION: N Portland

SALARY: $20/hour

JOB DESCRIPTION: Temporary to Hire opportunity working at the corporate office of a well-known, locally based craft brewer in N. Portland. This position offers great benefits upon hire and a competitive salary. Must be available to work 40 hours per week, some flexibility on start and end time to best suit your commute. $20/HR to start.

Specific job duties:
· Support the Company’s Vision, Mission and Values.
· The Junior Accountant will perform work primarily in one of the two following focus areas:

Brew Pub General Accounting:
· Records all Brew Pub revenues in the general ledger using technology, such as Excel and data warehouse, to extract and summarize data from Micros.
· Records and reconciles all Brew Pub related cash activity, including monitoring credit card deposits and matching activity to expected deposits.
· Reconciles bank accounts and researches discrepancies or unidentified issues.
· Researches and resolves credit card charge back issues.
· Monitors, researches and remits unclaimed property, as needed.
· Records various other Brew Pub related journal entries, reclassifications, etc.
· Assists Brew Pub managers with accounting related inquiries and research.

Fixed Asset – Property Tax – Treasury Accounting:
· Maintains the fixed asset and associated depreciation schedules in the FAS software system; prepares related general journal entries; ensures proper recording of new purchases and disposals.
· Assists Capital Financial Analyst with monitoring and organizing fixed asset charges.
· Calculates, amortizes, and accrues property taxes for various states, and submits necessary filings.
· Prepares and posts journal entries for debt activities, such as long-term debt, line of credit, capital lease, and loan fees.
· Accounts for various leases, including capital leases, operating leases, and deferred rent calculations.
· Performs daily cash review and summary.
· Prepares various sales tax reports including Washington Business & Occupation (B&O), New Hampshire meals and room tax, New Hampshire excise tax reporting, and various Annual & quarterly state filings.
· Assists with point-of-sale inventory transaction recording in the general ledger and sub ledgers.
· Assists Director of External Reporting & Investor Relations with various tasks, as needed, including:
· treasury function and cash forecasting
· various risk management and insurance related tasks
· various investor relations tasks

The Junior Accountant will also assume the following general accounting responsibilities:
· Assists with daily, monthly, quarterly and year-end operations of the Finance Department.
· Prepares general ledger entries by maintaining records and reconciling accounts.
· Answers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
· Serves as a back-up to the Senior Accountant and other Junior Accountant, as needed.
· Performs month-end balance sheet reconciliation process, along with the Senior Account and other accountants.
· Documents current accounting process as desk procedures for the role.
· Develops and implements accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures and recommending changes.
· Monthly responsibilities may include cash management (bank reconciliations), prepaid expenses, accruals, etc.
· Serves as a backup for invoicing and sales order processing.
· Assists in audit and SOX compliance testing support as required.
· Communicates and corrects issues internally and externally.
· Prepares analysis of accounts as required.
· Supports the accounting department by performing special projects as requested.

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Associates Degree in Business or Accounting, or equivalent experience. A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting is preferred.
· Must be highly proficient with Excel, and proficient with Word and PowerPoint.
· Experience with SOX is preferred and a working knowledge of the beverage/restaurant industry is a plus.
