**This position is office based in the Orlando, FL branch. This position will cover Central Florida.**
 
Schedule will be Monday - Friday from 8am - 5pm, with flexibility needed to work outside of these hours.
 
The Nutrition Support Dietitian provides nutritional screening, assessment and monitoring for infusion patients on service with AxelaCare and serves as a parenteral nutrition resource for internal and external customers within a defined service area.
 
Primary Responsibilities:

Performs nutritional screening and assessment for patients receiving infusion therapy.  Clinical duties include but are not limited to:

Diet history and recall
Estimation of nutrient intake
Calculation of nutritional requirements
Anthropometrics
Recommendations for the appropriate route to feed (oral, enteral, parenteral)
Evaluation of selected laboratory results
Assessment of drug - nutrient interactions
Develops and implements, in conjunction with pharmacy and nursing, a written nutritional plan of care
Communicates, verbally and in writing, patient data and recommendations to clinicians and physicians as part of the AxelaCare nutrition support team
Monitors the patient’s response to nutritional care on a routine basis, assisting with transitional feeding guidance as appropriate
Serves as a subject matter expert (SME) / consultant to home infusion patients, branch clinical staff, outside healthcare providers  /physicians and referral sources, regarding the nutritional needs of patients currently receiving, or potentially needing, home nutritional support
Occasionally provides clinical sales support by conducting in - services and educational programs with external customers: staff, referral sources, payors, etc
Assists sales team with marketing the parenteral nutrition program in efforts to gain new PN referrals
Assists with reimbursement related activities related to securing home PN coverage, i.e. Medicare qualification for home PN services
Prepares patient related documentation and requested reports accurately and in a timely manner, as required by internal and external regulatory requirements
Represents self in a professional and ethical manner at all times, complying with all applicable Company Policies and Procedures
Takes responsibility for maintaining employment requirements: completion of orientation, current nutritional knowledge, professional registration and licensure when needed, certifications, health requirements, as required by internal and external regulatory bodies
Participates in professional organizations such as ASPEN, Oley Foundation etc.
Adheres to all Policies, Procedures, and Standards of Conduct and referenced in company handbooks, guides and manuals
Attends mandatory annual in - services that are required by current position held
Reports to the appropriate manager(s) any known or suspected violations of policies and procedures, regulations or standards of conduct

Requirements

Required Qualifications:



Bachelor’s and / or Masters degree in nutrition or dietetics
Registered dietitian (RD) through the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and licensed by the state, as appropriate
At least 2 years of parenteral nutritional support experience managing a variety of disease states and patient types, ie. gastrointestinal diseases, cancer, malnutrition, pediatric congenital anomalies, etc.
Must be capable of occasional travel within service area of branch pharmacy.
       
Preferred Qualifications:

Certification by A.S.P.E.N. (Certified Nutrition Support Clinician - CNSC)
CPR certification or the ability to attain one
Home infusion experience 
Sales/sales support
Strong presentation skills
