EDUCATION DIRECTOR OF DAYCARE CENTER Hour Children is seeking an Education Director for the Hour Early Learning Program who is passionate about early childhood and committed to social justice. This is a unique opportunity to develop a daycare program for young children whose mothers have been in prison and are now in the process of rebuilding their lives. Hour Children (Hourchildren.org) provides mothers with housing and a wide array of supportive services delivered with love and compassion so that each woman can rebuild her life with dignity. The Hour Early Learning Program is crucial, as it provides the mothers with the opportunity to further their education and/or pursue employment worry-free, knowing that their young children are well cared for in the day care center. The tagline for Hour Children is "Love Makes the Difference" and we believe that is the key to the success of all our programs.The Hour Early Learning Program is located in Long Island City in New York. The program has thirty children ranging in age from infancy to four years old. The Education Director will be responsible for: * Creating a vision for the day care center that focuses on the social - emotional well being of every child* Implementing a program and curriculum that is nurturing, engaging, and founded on best practices in early development * Supervising the teaching staff and providing ongoing professional development * Creating respectful and trusting relationships with parents. * Administrative duties to include compliance with DOH License and CACFP Food Program Requirements Hour Early Learning Program is a licensed daycare center. Candidates must have a Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education and New York State Teacher Certification.
