Assistant Bakery Manager - Full-time / Part-time

K-VA-T Food Stores is the parent company of Food City, a highly successful regional grocery retail operation, headquartered in the beautiful and historic town of Abingdon, VA. Food City is currently looking for Assistant Food Service Managers to join our Bakery-Deli management team at various store locations. The successful candidate must have a food service background with experience in managing a winning team, and knowledge of operational procedures and best practices. He/She will provide direction and training to team members while demonstrating Food City’s mission to “Run the Best Store in Town.”

About the job:

Assistant Food Service Managers are responsible for assisting the Bakery-Deli Manager with all operations in the store’s Bakery-Deli department. Candidates for this position are responsible for setting the example of exceptional customer service and ensuring the quality of all Bakery-Deli products. Candidates will work with fellow associates to provide a clean and safe working environment while training, teaching, and assisting as needed.

Qualifications:

• Two (2) years’ experience in Food Service operations
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Must be able to resolve differences through diplomatic means
• Must be knowledgeable in various training methods
• Flexibility in work hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
• Must have excellent problem-solving skills
• Must be able to lead by example to give Food City customers their best shopping experience
• Must be able to work effectively under strict deadlines
• Ability to work as part of a team and interact with various levels of company representatives, customers, and vendors
• Ability to understand and follow verbal and/or written instructions, perform routine and repetitive tasks
• Ability to attend on-site work during normal business hours in the typical work week, as well as extra time as needed to fulfill job duties
