Application Developer Sr

Position Overview

As an Application Developer Senior within PNC’s Technology & Operations, Retail Distribution Technology Run organization, you ideally will be located in Pittsburgh, PA or Strongsville OH.

Your responsibilities will focus on proactive monitoring, incident management and production support of PNC's ATM (Automated Teller Machine) applications and supporting infrastructure. Responsibilities include ensuring the ATM channel is available 24x7, working with the Retail line of business when issues arise, recommending improvements for the customer experience and monitoring the health and stability of the ATM environment.

The PNC ATM / Branch Kiosk environment includes more than 9,000 ATMs, supported by a Diebold-Nixdorf application suite, and driven by a third party ATM processor.

Capabilities and skills required for this position:

• Participates in the installation, configuration, tuning and administration of multiple distributed server application and database environments.
• Collaborates with technical personnel and business analysts on the design and/or modification of existing environments and components in support of business requirements.
• Possesses knowledge of WebSphere, WESB/IIB, SOAP/XML Messaging, Oracle database, Java and distributed server environments.
• Applies application code upgrades and patches.
• Deploys code between multiple DEV, QA and Production environments (uDeploy).
• Experienced at monitoring and troubleshooting applications and technology environments using Dynatrace, Zenoss, Confio/Solar Winds and/or like systems monitoring anagement tools.
• Interfaces with both internal support groups, as well as vendor partners, in order to troubleshoot system functionality and performance issues.
• Provides ongoing systems and application support with a drive to solve issues to root cause in a timely fashion.
• Proficient with technical writing of technical reference documentation (runbooks, guidelines, standards, process and procedures, etc.)

• Conducts analyses of organizational needs and goals for the development and implementation of application systems .
• Reviews, analyzes, and modifies programming systems, including encoding, testing, debugging and installing for a large-scale system .
• Ensures the operating efficiency of existing application systems. Maintains records for the documentation of systems development and revisions .

• Knowledge of project management techniques and the ability to plan, design, develop, test, implement and maintain system development life cycle segments and phases.

• Knowledge of the technical language and writing approach, and the ability to write paper-based and on-line technical reference documentation (guidelines, standards, procedures, processes, applications, etc.)

Technical Troubleshooting - Extensive Experience

• Knowledge of technical troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques, and the ability to anticipate, recognize, and resolve technical (hardware, software, application or operational) problems.

Preferences/Skills

• Knowledge of the ATM industry, including ATM hardware, software and vendor partners is preferred.
• ITIL knowledge and experience preferred.

Required Education and Experience


Roles at this level typically require a university / college degree, with 3+ years of relevant / direct industry experience. Certifications are often desired. In lieu of a degree, a comparable combination of education and experience (including military service) may be considered.
