PURPOSE

The Catering and Conference Service Manager will work along with the team and Director of Sales & Marketing to develop and implement the sales catering business for our property. He/ She will be responsible for planning, soliciting and promoting catering business for the hotel. Develops the overall hotel Catering plans and budgets. Responsible for revenue maximization and control of Catering expenses through effective negotiation of services and accurate forecasting. Responsible for the successful execution of catering events.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Administer all catering operations to include, but not limited to, guest service, soliciting new accounts, negotiating contracts, merchandising and marketing, planning, event execution, cost control implementation, systems management and budget and forecasting.
  • Develop market segments, solicit new customers, negotiate contracts and maintain relationships with current customers.
  • Participate in negotiating meetings/functions, rooms, rates and all related requirements.
  • Create and communicate event resumes.
  • Plan, upsell and detail the program with the client.
  • Evaluate guest needs and industry competitive set to implement product, service and operational changes necessary to ensure guest satisfaction and market dominance.
  • Monitor client satisfaction scores in staff helpfulness, food quality and overall event while leading by influence to exceed brand benchmarks.
  • Maintain a flexible schedule to accommodate client's needs before and after events.
  • Attends operational and client meetings to communicate event details including: BEO's, pre-con's, etc.
  • Maintain knowledge of industry and trends in market, particularly amongst competitor set.
  • Maintains regular attendance and is consistently on time.
  • Maintains high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which include compliance with the dress code.
  • Performs any other duties as requested by supervisor.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum of 4 years of progressively responsible management experience in Sales within a 200+ room full-service hotel; OR 4 year degree from an accredited university in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or related major and 5 years of experience in Sales within a 200+ room full-service hotel or related professional area.

LANGUAGE ABILITY

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.


MATH ABILITY

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

  • Ability to interpret and perform basic computer functions
