As a Business Development Associate within PNC's Business Credit organization, you could be based in multiple locations. The essence of the position is business development. Experienced, successful front line calling officers and business development professionals are well suited. Strong interpersonal skills and an understanding of human inter-dynamics and the sales process hallmark the successful candidate.


Job Profile


  • Develops and maintains quality prospect leads and telephone callling efforts in coordination with BDOs in assigned territory.
  • Prospects new business, sets appointments and closes sales, services existing business and develops strong client relationships. Research and develop targets that are in the PNCBC strike zone; this requires an understanding of asset based lending and what types of companies PNC Business Credit is targeting.
  • Seeks out new opportunities with our existing customers by selling, referring, and recommending additional products and/or services in efforts to expand and grow new relationships. Must have ability to review financial and other information in order to decide whether to incorporate into Company Lead documentation for BDO or terminate opportunity.
  • Gain access to and develop rapport with Corporate Level Executives (can range from Controller to President). Develop comprehensive 'Company Lead documentation' which includes company background, call reporting details, and financial information. Makes outbound calls to clients in order to provide account information, follow-up on customer inquiries or issues, and/or to support marketing related activities/campaigns.
  • Serves as leader, coach, and mentor to new hires, as well as employees in need of additional coaching and assistance.

Preferences/Skills

Previous business development experience and commercial finance experience is a plus.


Required Education and Experience


Roles at this level typically require a university / college degree with < 1 year of professional experience and/or successful completion of a formal development program. In lieu of a degree, a comparable combination of education and experience (including military service) may be considered.
