Position Summary
The person in this position will be primarily responsible for leading teams writing programming code for the Bass Pro Shops web and mobile sites. The developer will be working on an implementation of WebSphere Commerce, and/or stand-alone JAVA , CSS, JavaScript or CSS code on the WebSphere or Tomcat platforms. This will include any Bass Pro Shops, Tracker Marine, or affiliate company sites.
The Senior Software Engineer will be responsible for converting project specifications, statements of problems and procedures into business solutions using JAVA, CSS, and JavaScript, . The Senior Software Engineer will also work closely with users and other project stakeholders to gather information for creating, improving or replacing software systems as needed, and will work with the Application Manager to define requirements for new functionality or improving/replacing existing systems.
The Senior Software Engineer shall focus on the proper use of Web Programming Tools to code and test applications, classes and other types of modules to implement user interface functionality, business logic and database interactions. The Engineer must be responsive to business needs and help ensure reliable operation of systems in the production environment. The person in this position will be a project/ task lead and a mentor to junior-level developers.

Position Requirements

1. Have the ability to efficiently and accurately develop application systems across the full software life-cycle, including concept development, requirements specification, technical design, coding, testing, documentation, training and support. Works well with Business Clients.
2. Experience 3 years minimum experience working on a major transactional web site. 5-8 year preferred.
3. Have a minimum of eight years web programming experience, a minimum of five years programming experience using Websphere, JAVA,CSS, Javascript, JSON and XML.
4. Have the ability to quickly write code that is reliable and produces accurate results, as well as have knowledge of modern programming standards and practices. Mentor Junior developers in these practices.
5. Have the ability to analyze existing program logic and design changes that meet changing business needs.
6. Be able to work with minimal supervision.
7. Have the willingness and ability to provide after hours support as needed.
8. Have knowledge of web application testing procedures and the ability to use software for testing and maintaining test databases.
9. Demonstrate a willingness to explore, learn and utilize new technologies to improve the overall viability of our applications and technical knowledge base.
10. Solid working knowledge of Websphere, JAVA (JQuery and Dojo), Object Oriented Programming, HTML, JavaScript and SQL.
11. Degree/diploma in computer-related field from an accredited university.
12. Knowledge of technologies such as XML/XSL/XSD, Web Services, IIB, Endeca, SOAP and DB2 is a plus.
13. Strong business analysis skills. Experienced in object modeling, design, and the ability to graphically portray your ideas using software such as MS Visio or MS PowerPoint.
14. Excellent communication skills (oral and written) and strong relationship skills are a must.
15. Ability to organize, conduct, & LEAD user design/project groups effectively.
16. Ability to work under tight deadlines, and to respond to changing business needs and requirements.
17. Ability to multi-task, work in a demanding team environment.
