Job Overview:

Under general direction, designs, implements and maintains complex databases with respect to access methods, access time, device allocation, validation checks, organization, protection and security, documentation, guidelines and statistical methods. Maintains database dictionaries, manages monitoring of standards and procedures and integration of systems through Database design. Demonstrates strong proficiency on multiple database platforms. Provides guidance/training to less experienced Database Analysts. Able to work at the highest level of all phases of database management. Performs other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions:

• Is proficient on multiple database platforms.
• Designs, implements and maintains complex databases that achieve business objectives, are well designed, efficient and conform to standards.
• Completes all assignments on time, and within established standards and expectations.
• Keeps management well-informed of progress, status and/or concerns for each assignment.
• Consistently demonstrates regular, dependable attendance & punctuality.
• Work within a team environment to manage the SAS infrastructure, associated components and applications. Duties include installing, configuring, patching and upgrading software, tuning and optimization, proactively monitoring and securing services. Operational support responsibilities involve troubleshooting, interoperability and root-cause diagnosis, performance analysis, migrating code, and applying changes. Seek opportunities to improve system performance and resiliency.
• Collaborate with software developers, analysts and service managers to understand business requirements for projects and operations, and make cogent recommendations. Work with vendors to resolve issues and apply maintenance. Participate and work with infrastructure and DBA teams. Establish and maintain strong, effective working relationships.
• Provide regular status updates and communications to teams and management. Develop and maintain documentation related to installations, configurations, technical solutions and procedures relevant to the administration and maintenance of services. Initiate formal and informal knowledge sharing sessions within teams.
• Able to act as lead Database Analyst on projects.
• Able to act as Supervisor in his/her absence.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

• Bachelor Degree and 5 – 8 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
• 5-8 years of experience with one or more of the following Databases is required: Oracle, SQL Server, DB2, Access and multi-platform operating systems, UNIX or LINUX;
• Experienced in SAS server design, cross-platform architecture, platform security, SAS backup and recovery;
• Experience with SAS CI Studio, Marketing Automation, Marketing Optimization, Size Optimization, Visual Analytics/LASR, Platform LSF Scheduling, etc;
• Experience with Base SAS, Platform, Metadata & Mid-Tier Administration;
• Installation, configuration, patching and maintenance of the SAS programs on various OS platforms and also SAS GRID installation;
• Troubleshoot client applications and systems and provide end user support as required;
• Implementing and managing automated monitoring solutions for SAS Platforms to ensure SLAs are maintained;
• Responsible for the overall availability of the SAS tools and software environment;
• Excellent debugging skills relating to database performance and errors on multi-platforms.

Communication Skills:

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
• Ability to read, write, and interpret business and technical documents.

Reasoning Ability:

• Strong analysis/troubleshooting/debugging skills, strong partnering/relationship building skills;
• Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Physical Demands:

• This position involves regular ambulating, sitting, hearing, and talking;
• May occasionally involve stooping, kneeling, or crouching;
• May involve close vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment;
• Involve use of hands and fingers for typing on keyboard and using a mouse;
• May be a need to move or lift items under 10 pounds.

Other Skills:

• Ability to work under deadlines and heavy workloads. Able to use MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio).

Work Hours:

• Participates in the ‘on-call’ rotation;
• Ability to work a flexible schedule based on department and company needs.
