One of Aerotek's elite clients is seeking a Mechanical Designer to join their team.
Job Summary:
- Manage new product development by working with cross-functional as well as engineering teams
- Work through all project related activities from concept to design
- Facilitate the production and manufacturing of prototypes
- Ensure cross-company communication to facilitate project completion on time and within budget
Primary Duties:
- Product development find, source, develop information and details for efficient production resulting in excellent quality
- Working with customers concepts and developing these concepts through to completion
- Produce drawings utilizing Inventor, and AutoCAD for customer review based on the prescribed design using the corporate standard for engineering/drawing model
- Review all drawings and specifications with Design and Development Manager
- Create Bills of Materials for all manufactured wood/metal products
- Review all machining requirements with machine programming and production personnel
- Define and execute production scope including buy out items, wood, and metal
- Work with procurement to ensure timely ordering of buyout/long delivery items
- Review all material requirements for ERP entry Maintain/update all revisions to B.O.M.s
- Create material requirement projections and work with purchasing to procure materials within schedule
- Build prototypes in accordance to store fixture drawings
- Incorporate engineered, efficient, best practice design/production methods in the design/detail drawing process
- Guarantee drawing urn-around schedule, ultimately fostering customer satisfaction
- Computer literacy with knowledge of ERP as well as Inventor to ensure integrity of information & procedures
Education Requirements:
- Associates Degree in Engineering or Business or equivalent experience
Qualifications:
- 3-5 years experience of wood and metal manufacturing
- Autodesk Inventor, Solidworks and similar software as well as a minimum 3 years experience required in sheet metal-based manufacturing (Other Autodesk product proficiency a plus- AutoCad, Vault)
- Demonstrated hands-on shop floor experience in both metal and wood manufacture
- Employ highly effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Highly effective computer skills, with knowledge of ERP and design applications such as Inventor
- The ability to create and maintain computer spreadsheets with an understanding of ERP fundamentals
- Must be able to multi-task, able to take independent action, a problem solver, and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
