Staffmark is seeking a qualified and experienced Paralegal / Legal Assistant. Paralegals and legal assistants do a variety of tasks to support lawyers, including maintaining and organizing files, conducting legal research, and drafting documents.
Ideal candidate will possess characteristics including attention to detail, strong leadership skills, able to think critically, and maintain professionalism.
Job Responsibilities Include:
Initiate the beginning process of the eviction or foreclosure process in order to save money for the company
Research different laws and requirements for each county, city, municipality, burrow, etc. on the law and procedure to evict
Solicit different attorney offices in order to receive the best price possible for any legal action that requires any attorney
Attend court cases for evictions
Terminate contracts if tenant is willing to leave without us taking legal actions
Work with code officers on any type of violations that we have received
Find locals to cut grass / snow / debris or board up properties to prevent any additional fines or penalties
Find ways to get properties off the condemned/demo list
File appeals on any frivolous law suits
Manage and overlook all tax/utility letters that are sent to tenants
Work with OSHA and other law enforcement to figure out solutions to problems that may occur with the properties
Customer service on a daily basis to help get issues resolved and try to build relationships with the tenants and other staff
Send letters to tenants who owe for taxes and utilities
Redemption fees and time frame for sold properties
Requirements:
Bachelors degree, Associates degree or certificate program in paralegal studies
Prior experience in real estate law preferred but not required
Must be able to work independently in a work from home environment
Paralegal certification may be required
Thorough knowledge of legal principles and practices, legal research techniques & thorough knowledge of legal terminology
Knowledge of legal communication principles and practice, in depth knowledge of local, state and federal laws and regulations
Relevant computer knowledge and experience
Compensation: DOE
Schedule: Monday through Friday, work from home. Occasional weekends as needed. Laptop provided.
