We are looking for experienced, passionate retail Leaders to join our Leader in Training program for Assistant Store Manager (Associate Store Team Leader) positions in the central Virginia/Charlottesville, VA area of Whole Foods Market. This is a 24 week program that includes: * Three 6 week long Deep Dive trainings on specific teams within the store to gain full understanding of how the teams operate * Culture & Leadership training from a Store Team Leader "coach" * Financial systems and operations training In order to prepare the right person for an Assistant Store Manager (Associate Store Team Leader) role, the program requires all participants to train in various metro stores. Summary: Teamwork is at the heart of Whole Foods Market, and you will lead a Team with your creativity, passion for the product, and quality driven leadership style. Alongside the Store Leadership Team you will be responsible for Team Member hiring, development, terminations, and generally holding all Teams accountable for their work. The Assistant Store Manager (Associate Store Team Leader) is responsible for Store profitability, expense control, inventory control, buying and merchandising, regulatory compliance, and special projects as assigned. We are looking for individuals who lead, not manage, work Teams. You will be encouraged to help run the Store as if it were your own business, within certain guidelines. The Assistant Store Manager (Associate Store Team Leader) position requires an intensive, hands-on 24 week Career Development training program prior to fully assuming the responsibilities of an Assistant Store Manager (Associate Store Team Leader) role at your home Store. The Career Development training program consists of being trained in all aspects of managing Store operations and leading and developing Team Members. The Career Development training program will help to prepare you for your role as an Assistant Store Manager (Associate Store Team Leader) at Whole Foods Market. This position requires the ability to train in any metro area Store during the 24 week training period. This position will be located in one of our Stores in the Mid-Atlantic Region (in the specific sub-regional area that you are applying: DC Metro Area, Philadelphia Metro Area, OH area, or KY area). DUTIES: * Successfully complete Career Development training program. * Ensure the customer experience is outstanding and that customers are satisfied & delighted by our products and services. * Provide open, consistent, and useful communication to Team Members regarding storewide & company goals, news, trends, and events. * Work with Team Leaders and Team Members to ensure Store merchandising is inviting to customers and drives sales. * Drive a safety first culture, ensuring Team Members are properly trained in safe work practices and procedures. * Assist with all aspects of Store operations and be ready and willing to jump in to help in any department as needed, including other duties not listed here which may be assigned by Leadership. * Assume total responsibility for the Store in the absence of the Store Team Leader. * Communicate, represent, and uphold Whole Foods Market values and business philosophy. * Assist in interviewing, selecting, training, developing, and counseling Team Members in a manner which builds and sustains a high performing Team and minimizes turnover. * Assist STL in disciplinary action, transfers, promotions, rate increases, and job dialogues. * Work with STL to build and sustain a positive work environment of outstanding teamwork, mutual respect, and exceptional morale. REQUIREMENTS: * Your STL & EC support (internal candidates) * Successfully worked as a Team Leader on two separate teams, or on same team in two different stores (internal candidates) * Demonstrated creativity in promoting sales, merchandising, and/or marketing. * Strong financial acumen and budgeting skills. * Demonstrated strong operational execution skills. * Knowledge of products, buying, pricing, and inventory management. * An affinity for our products, Core Values, and company philosophy. * Illustrated Leadership in decision making, critical thinking, and analysis. * Desire to be a Store Team Leader in the coming years. * Willingness to transfer to Stores as needed. * Strong leadership qualities, with special emphasis on Team building. * Demonstrated experience in hiring, counseling, and terminating Team Members. * Strong skills in customer service and community relations. * Excellent communicator, listener, and motivator. * Ability to multi-task, delegate responsibilities, prioritize, and organize effectively. * Proactive in all aspects of the job. * Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a sense of urgency. * Knowledge of and experience using Microsoft Office Suite. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Ability and desire to train for multiple weeks during the Career Development training program in any Store in the Mid-Atlantic Region, as needed. * Available for flexible scheduling to meet the needs of the Store including mornings, nights, weekends, holidays, and long/unusual hours.
