Childcare Teachers, Assistant Teachers and Interns

Job Description of
Basic Function:
Under the direction of the Program Director, plan, organize and implement approved developmentally appropriate curriculum for the development of children enrolled in the program; provide a safe and nurturing environment conducive to the growth and development of children.

Plans and prepares classroom setting; oversees safety and educational programs; supervises children in the classroom; provides a supportive environment in which children can learn and practice appropriate and acceptable individual and group behaviors.

Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of assessment.
 Methods of instruction.
 Methods of observing, evaluating and recording child behavior.
 Safe practices in classroom activities.
 Requirements of maintaining the center in a safe, clean and orderly condition.
 Cross-cultural issues.
 Policies and objectives of assigned program and activities.
 Record-keeping and report preparation techniques.
 Oral and written communication skills.
 Applicable laws, codes, rules and regulations.
 Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary.
 Health and safety regulations.
 Principles and practices of training and providing work direction to others.

Requirements:

Candidates must pass required state and company background checks, and meet state and company minimum education and experience requirements:

• At least 18 years of age with a high school diploma or GED required

• Demonstrated experience working with children, in a childcare or family childcare setting.
• Early childhood coursework, including Intern certificate, TECE 1; TECE 2, CDA, or degree preferred
