Job Description
Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Laboratory Technician to work in our Operations department. Our team works a 9x80 schedule located out of our REC and Site Facilities with every other Friday off. You will report to the Operations manager for this position. The Laboratory Technician for National & Homeland Security directly supports scientists, engineers, analysts and cybersecurity researchers in a multitude of laboratory duties including housekeeping, procurement of equipment and materials, experiment design and assembly, maintenance of equipment and management of inventories. You will primarily support N&HS control systems cybersecurity, grid security and infrastructure security laboratories, but will also assist as needed in large N&HS range experiments and exercises in all mission areas, including nuclear nonproliferation. Responsibilities Include:
- Assist researchers in designing, assembling, maintaining and modifying research equipment.
- Operate diagnostic equipment and evaluate electrical assemblies for safety and security.
- Compile and complete documentation as required both for operations and to assist researchers with specific R&D objectives.
- Inspect electrical and computer cabinets and electrical equipment for safety, compliance and configuration control.
- Monitor laboratory equipment for safe and efficient operation.
- HS degree and at least 10 yrs experience in working with electrical/electronic equipment, instrumentation and controls
- Must have experience in instrumentation and controls, electrical and electronic systems including maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting and repair.
- Must be capable of evaluating electronic equipment for safe configuration, heat loading, electrical loading and compliance with applicable standards and codes.
- This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "Q" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.
- Salary Grade: TS0400 - 180 ($64,272 - $102,840)
