Job Description
Work Incentives Coordinator
Independent Living Resources (ILR) is looking for the just the right person to join our Work Incentives Network (WIN) Team! The successful candidate will join an Oregon Team of 11 Work Incentives Coordinators (WICs) based out of Oregon's 7 Centers for Independent Living (CILs) serving people with all types of disabilities. The new hire will be part of a team of 3 WICs based at ILR in East Portland and serving people with disabilities in NW Oregon. Primary services are provided in the Portland Metro Area with periodic outreach and services provide to communities in The Gorge and the North Coast.
The ideal candidate will have interest and some expertise in social security benefits planning. WIPPA Certification is a plus, however the successful candidate will enter a year-long training program leading to certification. This a unique opportunity for someone with an interest in working one-on-one with people with disabilities who are exploring trial-work incentives offered by the Social Security Administration (SSA). Compatible skill-sets suitable for this professional training program include an ability to research and understand SSA policies, listen to consumer goals and develop Work Incentive Plans to guide people with disabilities returning to work following periods on SSI or SSDI benefit programs.
Candidates with some combination of experience as a disability legal assistant, a social services case manager, or social security advisor have been successful in transitioning into this position. WICs apply financial and social security policy information to the life experiences of consumers with disabilities in order to develop a work incentives plan to better understand benefit options when returning to work.
The WIC position begins with an initial three-month intensive training program after which exams are passed in order to move on to the provision of direct services to consumers. Ongoing training continues for the first year toward certification with annual training thereafter. This is a wonderful professional opportunity for the right person! It is a full-time exempt position with a salary range of $42,500 - $46,000 with generous benefits.
Funding is in place and the successful candidate will begin as soon as possible.
