Penn Highlands Healthcare is actively seeking a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner to work in our Level IIIB NICU at Penn Highlands DuBois.
The Neonatal Nurse Practitioner will work under the supervision of the attending Neonatologist to provide the highest level of care to high-risk neonates in our 16 bed, Level IIIB NICU at Penn Highlands DuBois. As part of a multidisciplinary team, the NNP will function not only as an integral health care provider but as an educator and advisor to a group of Neonatal Nurses. This NNP position is full time, and with a negotiable schedule, could be utilized as an additional income opportunity. Responsibilities:
Diagnose and provide comprehensive management of acute and chronic conditions of high-risk neonatal patients
Order, conduct and interpret diagnostic and laboratory tests
Prescribe pharmacologic and non-pharmocologic therapies
Communicate with the families of neonates, providing information on the condition and plan for their baby in a compassionate manner
Write daily progress notes and function to the equivalent of a resident physician
Attend high-risk deliveries, consults, ER consults, all NICU patients and admissions of greater than or equal to 34 weeks (Neonatologist will assist with complicated cases and situations above NNP comfort level)
Support education of NICU staff
Occasional high-risk transport, nursery consults and/or newborn assessments while in house (may be negotiable)
Requirements:
Masters Degreen in Nursing from accredited Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Program
Current Pennsylvania Registered Nurse licensure and certification as a Nurse Practitioner from a Board-Recognized National Certifying Organization
NRP and Healthcare Provider CPR Certification from the American Heart Association
S.T.A.B.L.E. Certification (preferred)
