Teaching Assistant

Responsibilities

• The Part-Time Assistant is responsible for assisting the Instructor in the overall operations of the center during class hours

• The center assistant must be flexible and willing to work on anything requested as listed below,

• Front Desk: Give a friendly welcome to students, look through their homework, andorganize their work for the day as needed

• Interact with parents in a positive way

• Teach parents the Kumon grading technique upon request• Grading: Accurately and speedily grade Kumon worksheets according to the Kumon method

• Assistant Instructor: Sit with younger students or new students to ensure proper center routines are followed and help with instruction according to the Kumon Method

• This will require training provided at the Center

• Communicate to Instructor any necessary information about the student’s performance

• Center Maintenance: Ensure Center is clean, tidy and organized

• File Preparation: Pull appropriate worksheets for student files to have all materials ready for the student’s next visit

• Put away inventory of worksheets as needed

• Other: Some examples include motivating junior staff, monitoring their productivity, fielding parent inquiries during class hours, returning phone calls, and special projects as needed
