Job Description
Patient Representative- Check out, Job Description:
Welcomes patients and visitors by greeting them, in person or on the telephone; answering or referring inquiries.
Check out patients and complete the patient tracking in the EMR.
Answer the telephone in a warm, friendly manner. Answers the back line within a few rings.
Directs urgent calls to the Medical Assistant and ensures that action is taken.
scheduling, canceling, and rescheduling patient appointments.
Collect outstanding balances, coinsurances, deductibles, copays and self pay balances that are owed at the time of checkout.
Accurately post payments and provide receipts to patients.
Reconcile individual daily receipts and money collected with end of day reports to confirm money balances and then prepare individual deposits.
Batch credit card machine at the end of every day.
Optimizes patients' satisfaction, provider time, and exam room utilization by efficiently scheduling appointments.
Verifying patient insurance and demographics
Scan documents and Import faxes.
Complete all tasks within the timelines established by the practice.
Complete patient referrals.
Protects patients' rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal and financial information per HIPAA regulations.
Assists in orientation of new personnel as directed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:
No education Requirement
One year of experience is required, two to three years of experience is preferred.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSE:
No license requirements
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of basic office equipment including copier, fax machine, and computer.
Skill in dealing with interpersonal issues and customer relations.
Ability to handle multiple priorities at once with minimal supervision.
Ability to comprehend and follow written and verbal instructions.
Ability to organize and communicate clearly.
Demonstrates tact and understanding when dealing with patients, team members, members of other disciplines, and the public.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient and employee information.
The ideal candidate would have OB-GYN experience, an ability to work under pressure, enjoy a collaborative work environment, and understand the flexibility and multitasking required throughout a work day.
