Patient Representative- Check out, Job Description:


 

  • Welcomes patients and visitors by greeting them, in person or on the telephone; answering or referring inquiries. 

  • Check out patients and complete the patient tracking in the EMR.  

  • Answer the telephone in a warm, friendly manner. Answers the back line within a few rings.

  • Directs urgent calls to the Medical Assistant and ensures that action is taken.   

  • scheduling, canceling, and rescheduling patient appointments.

  • Collect outstanding balances, coinsurances, deductibles, copays and self pay balances that are owed at the time of checkout.  

  • Accurately post payments and provide receipts to patients.  

  • Reconcile individual daily receipts and money collected with end of day reports to confirm money balances and then prepare individual deposits.

  • Batch credit card machine at the end of every day.

  • Optimizes patients' satisfaction, provider time, and exam room utilization by efficiently scheduling appointments. 

  • Verifying patient insurance and demographics 

  • Scan documents and Import faxes.  

  • Complete all tasks within the timelines established by the practice.

  • Complete patient referrals. 

  • Protects patients' rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal and financial information per HIPAA regulations. 

  • Assists in orientation of new personnel as directed. 

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

EDUCATION:  

  •  No education Requirement 

  • One year of experience is required, two to three years of experience is preferred.   

CERTIFICATION/LICENSE:   

  • No license requirements  

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:   

  • Knowledge of basic office equipment including copier, fax machine, and computer.   

  • Skill in dealing with interpersonal issues and customer relations.   

  • Ability to handle multiple priorities at once with minimal supervision.   

  • Ability to comprehend and follow written and verbal instructions.   

  • Ability to organize and communicate clearly. 

  • Demonstrates tact and understanding when dealing with patients, team members, members of other disciplines, and the public.  

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient and employee information.
