Sales Operations Manager – Turning the Page’s Book Sale Initiative

Education nonprofit Turning the Page (www.turningthepage.org) engages public school parents to become more active participants in their children’s education. To raise funds for our work, Turning the Page collects thousands of donated used books, CDs and DVDs, and then sells these books to the public through one-day book sale festivals, pop-up storefronts called Carpe Librum, and online. We are currently seeking an entrepreneurial candidate with experience and interest in retail and an ability to communicate effectively with both team and our community. An interest in and love of books is a plus! 

Responsibilities include:

1. Helping to prepare for, and then lead team (including staff and volunteers) efforts at book sale festival sites throughout the DC area (primarily outdoors);
2. Manage set-up and implementation of periodic pop-up bookstores (indoors);
3. Readying donated inventory to ensure ready for festival and pop-up bookstores; 
4. Prepare and disseminate team schedules;   
5. Leading a team tasked with picking and shipping online book sales;
6. Working and communicating with the online shipping technology partners; and 

Communicating with customer inquiries via our online shipping

Schedule:

• 8 hour shift
• Weekend availability

Work Location: Multiple locations

Required qualifications:

• 21+ years or older
• Legally authorized to work in the United States
• 3+ years of experience in the retail industry

• At least high school diploma or equivalent or higher
• Retail skills: restocking

• Warehouse skills: loading and unloading trucks
• Warehouse skills: managing inventory records
• Management skills: supervising employees

• Math skills: counting cash drawer
• Math skills: tracking inventory usage
• 5-7 years of total work experience
• Access to personal devices for work: smartphone - any type
• Able to work in an environment with fluctuating temperatures
• Valid driver's license
