The Stratton VA Medical Center, part of the NY/NJ VA Health Care Network, is located in the heart of Albany. Albany, the capital city of New York, the seat of Albany County, and the central city of New York's Capital District, is roughly 140 miles north of New York City and sits on the west bank of the Hudson River. Position Information

The Chief of Urology is responsible for the overall management, planning, organization, direction, and control of all programs of a Urology Surgery Program. The Chief of Urology is responsible for participating in and managing all aspects of a Urology surgery program, which includes clinical, administrative, academic and research components, patient satisfaction, patient care delivery, patient education, health care outcomes, and appropriate interface with all other services of the Albany VAMC as related to the urology care program.

The urologist must possess the highest level of expertise in managing a diverse urologic patient population. That population will include veteran patients with acute and chronic medical and surgical conditions, complicating urologic care, as well as patients with traumatic injury, psychiatric disorders or social challenges. Solicitation and receipt of appropriate consultations from other disciplines within the facility is common. The Chief of Urology will be attuned to the specific performance measures related to the Urology Service.

Work Schedule: Full-time, Monday-Friday

Salary Range: $285,000 - $400,000

We offer:

Education Debt Reduction Program (Student Loan Repayment):  Assistance with payment of outstanding medical school loans, up to $200K over 5 years, if approved.

 Recruitment Incentive (Sign-on Bonus)/Relocation Incentive:    Authorized for highly qualified candidates.

 Paid Time Off:  50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME)

 Retirement:  Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA

 CME:  Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification)

 Contract:  No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting

 

Requirements:

  • US citizenship
  • Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in any US State or territory
  • Board Certification in Urology
