Neurology

    We are looking to add a skilled Neurologist to our Richmond VA Medical Center in Richmond, Virginia . We are seeking a highly motivated Board Eligible/Board Certified General Neurologist with a preference for inpatient consultation interest. This position requires a combination of inpatient consultative and outpatient neurology care. The physician must have a full and unrestricted medical license from any state or territory, who shares our commitment to providing excellent care to our US Veterans.

    The Richmond VA Medical Center, located in Richmond, Virginia, is a level 1a 349-bed facility offering primary, secondary, and tertiary health care in medicine, surgery, neurology, rehabilitation medicine, intensive care, intermediate care, precision oncology, acute and sustaining spinal cord injury, polytrauma care, skilled nursing home care, and palliative care. The medical center has four community-based outpatient clinics located in Charlottesville, Fredericksburg, Emporia and Spotsylvania County, Virginia, and a strong and mutually beneficial affiliation with the Medical College of Virginia. Residency programs exist in virtually all general and specialty areas of medicine, rehabilitation, surgery, psychiatry, and dentistry.

Major Duties / Responsibilities

    The duties and responsibilities of the Neurologist include, but are not limited to the following:

• Provides a full range of general neurology services including assessment and using the most appropriate techniques in providing quality care in outpatient and inpatient neurology care settings.
• Teaching is an integral part of the work of a VA staff Neurologist. Teaching and mentoring medical students, residents, and fellows is required.
• Shares/rotates call responsibilities with other neurology physicians in the service.
• Collaborates with midlevel providers and physician colleagues with clear communication and documentation.
• Work will be a combination of on-site and remote telework as the needs of the service/division dictate based on space. Physicians are expected to be proficient in evaluation and management of patients both through in person and virtual telehealth visits.
