Goodwill of Central and Southern Indiana provides an engaging online shopping experience on this site and other online destinations to further Goodwill's mission of helping people who are facing barriers in finding jobs.

The eCommerce Material Handler assists the management team in reaching the operational goals of the site by moving inventory within the eCommerce facility, focusing on managing the incoming and outgoing material flow at the dock area. Will use heavy equipment including pallet jacks, electric pallet jacks, and double stackers. This role may be called upon to help out in various capacities within the site location such as aiding the retail team with loading and unloading product totes for scanning and assisting the Pack-Ship area as needs arise. The environment is production- and safety-focused with a culture that values mutual respect, support, growth, positive team spirit, and family. All positions have hourly quotas to reach.

Hours of Operation: 7AM-6PM, Monday through Friday and Saturday, 7AM-3:30PM

**There are a variety of working shifts available which also may include occasional overtime hours.

Example Duties and Activities

  • Loads, unloads, moves, stacks, and stages products and materials using pallet jacks, electric pallet jacks, and double stackers. Moves materials to and from trucks with proper loading techniques and weight distribution.

  • Breaks down skids and totes and places into FIFO lanes and/or delivers to other locations within the site.

  • Maintains a clean, neat, and orderly dock area. Conducts operations in a manner that promotes safety. Complies with OSHA and SDS Standards.

  • Follows all safety rules and common sense practices in the operation of equipment inside a building.

  • Completes daily checklists (e.g. pre-shift and post-shift checklists, checklists for each outgoing load, etc.)

  • Follows all process instructions accurately for material handling.

  • Meets and surpasses hourly production quotas.

  • Assists retail team when needs arise (e.g. loading and unloading product totes onto the conveyor for scanners).

  • Assists in the Pack-Ship area as needed.

  • Cross-trains in other areas to build skill base and value within the department.

  • Ethical - Adheres to procedures and protocol, including maintaining confidentiality in passwords, logging on and off procedures, and adherence to Goodwill's values.

Preferred Competencies

  • Technical Knowledge - Has familiarity with computers and relevant software including basic computer and Internet navigation skills.

  • Moderate to Hard Physical Work - is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reaches with hands and arms; can bend, stretch, and carry. The employee must frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds and/or move pallets that weigh in the hundreds of pounds using a pallet jack. Will be occasionally exposed to fumes, airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. There is a risk of electrical shock and vibration.

  • Visual Acuity - Has close and distance vision abilities and is able to adjust focus.

  • Minimum of 18 years of age
