Responsibilities
- Responsible for assisting the surgeon in the sterile field according to AORN Standards of Practice Recommendations
- Perform scrub duties in varied specialties/procedures
- Ensure that the case has the necessary sterile supplies and equipment for that surgeon and procedure
- Assist with Circulating duties under direct supervision of the RN circulator assigned to the patient
- Ensure adherence to Hospital, State and departmental policies and procedures
Qualifications
Job Requirements
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or NCCT – Certification
- Annually complete 15 hours of continuing education to remain qualified to practice as a surgical technologist in the State of NJ
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
Preferred Job Requirements
- High School or GED equivalent
- Graduate of Surgical Technologist Program
- Minimum of one (1) year as a Certified Surgical Technologist
