* Patient Narrative: Meet Lex! As those who know him will tell you, Lex is a ball of joy who loves to smile and laugh all day long. His family is looking for skilled nurses to take care of him in his Cambridge home (LPN/RN – experience with patients like him is what matters most). Lex has a very rare muscle-wasting disease that has paralyzed his diaphragm, so he needs to be on ventilatory support 24/7. When needed, he requires trach, nose, and mouth suctioning. He receives additional breathing support with a cough assist machine and gets regular nebulizer treatments to keep him in tip-top respiratory health. He has a suprapubic catheter and is feed via gastric feeding (G tube). During the day, Lex needs someone who has solid assessment experience and will feel comfortable enough to stay alone with him while his parents are at work. Lex looks very stable because everyone works so hard to keep him healthy, but sometimes he needs to be assessed and treated quickly; ideally, it would be a clinician who can calmly handle things like this during the day (especially during bug season). Lex has a compromised immune system, so he needs nurses who would never come to work sick. Lex is in really good shape because his family and caregivers all work hard and proactively as a team to keep him in his best health. Lex has a loyal cat-Dikkat-who sleeps by his side most of the day. Lex and his family live in East Cambridge but have a guest parking pass and can also put your license on a long-term home care parking pass, so parking isn’t a big deal. During the day, Lex regularly naps from about 8 am to 11 am and then has a nap/chill time from 3:30 pm to 5 pm – but from 11 to 3, he needs someone who will actively engage with him and keeping him busy and happy.

*About Northeast Arc-Clinical Services:*
* Northeast ARC-Clinical Services is a home care agency out of Danvers that specializes in Continuous Care Nursing for medically complex children and adults. This means it is more than a VNA; we provide block nursing in shifts anywhere from 2-16 hours at a time. We work 1-on-1 with a patient in their home, school, or community setting. We help families navigate the complexities of their loved one’s medical care, ensuring patients stay at home and out of the hospital. Our primary goal is to assist in allowing parents/children/spouses to maintain THAT role instead of being their Loved one’s primary “nurse”.
* We are always looking for more nurses to join our team-RNs, LPNs and new grads are all welcome. Worried about “losing skills” like the homecare myth would have you believe? Our cases run the gamut from general nursing care to extremely complex ICU-level home care. Almost all our patients have some type of feeding challenge and are either G or J-tube feeding dependent. Others might have tracheostomies and require ventilator support; others might have seizure disorders, use ostomy appliances, need wound management, require diabetic maintenance, and so much more. While our primary focus is helping to manage complex medical care at home, our equally important goal is to ensure our patient’s social-emotional health & well-being. We have many families looking for nursing help and get new referrals all the time. There simply aren’t enough nurses to care for them all. Pay rates-for the three differentials: all RNs are paid $44/46/48; all LPNs are paid $36/38/40. We have a great benefits package, sign-on bonuses, ongoing retention bonuses, tuition reimbursement, and much more.
