Position Summary:

The Custodian is responsible for performing ongoing basic upkeep of the facility(s) assigned to them in the array of The Arc’s outlying sites. The on-going duties are assigned by the Lead Maintenance Technician to whom they report and/or the Facilities Manager (interim duties maybe also be assigned by the senior program team members at the site where they are assigned.)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Keeping the building clean, both inside and outside.
  1. Sweep, mop floor throughout the day as needed.
  2. Empty trash throughout the day, as needed.
  3. Clean the bathrooms: toilets, floors, paper and messes at least 3-times daily, and as required.
  4. Replace paper products as required,
  5. Wipe down surfaces of all dust, debris and messes daily.
• Maintain the interior and exterior of all buildings and grounds as directed by the Facilities Manager and/or the Lead Maintenance Technician.
• Assist with improving the condition of the exterior of the buildings and grounds, i.e, weeding, pressure cleaning, clearing of debris, etc.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to use a variety of hand tools.
• Ability to operate maintenance equipment such as lawn mowers, trimmers and pressure cleaners.
• Ability to maintain effective working relationships staff members.
• Ability to meet drug free workplace and other required background checks.

• High school diploma/GED or preferred.

• 2+ years of experience preferred.

• Must possess and maintain a current Florida’s Driver’s License and state minimum requirements for auto insurance.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:

• Regularly sit, stand reach with hands and arms, and talk and hear.
• Ability to bend, carry, climb, grasp, kneel, lift, pull, push, reach, squat, twist, and walk as related to duties of this position.
• crouch, and lift and/or carry office equipment, and boxes up to 50 pounds.

Compensation starting at $16 Hr
