Senior Global Controller- Fishing

Based at our beautiful Headquarters along Lake Michigan in downtown Racine, WI. , you'll have incredible access to a variety of outdoor activities whether skiing and snowmobiling in winter, or kayaking, fishing, sailing, hiking or more in summer. Close to Milwaukee & Chicago, the area boasts a wide variety of amenities including a vibrant arts and culture scene and a host of unique, creative dining options. This is a hybrid on-site work schedule, in office three days per week.

About the Role:

The person in this role will provide the overall strategic leadership and oversight of finance, accounting, reporting and analysis to ensure business results are achieved or exceeded. Ensures short-term and long-term business and financial plans support the company's overall strategic plan. Provides collaborative financial and business counsel to the Group Vice President and business unit management team to help set strategy and drive results.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drives and leads financial analyses of business initiatives including new products, sales, marketing, and operations. Challenges and drives the financial and operational optimization while minimizing variances and extraneous expenses.
  • Acts as a business partner and an influential leader of the management team by providing financial and strategic support, consultation, and leadership.
  • Leads timely closing and insightful reporting of business results while ensuring high quality and appropriate financial and internal controls.
  • Provides consultation, leadership, and influence for the business's strategic plans. Actively engages and provides data-backed insight in the strategic planning processes.
  • Protects assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls. Ensures compliance with Sarbanes Oxley. Ensures transparency in financial reporting and disclosures.
  • Directs and leads the annual financial budgeting process and monthly financial forecasts. Advises management on ways to improve profit and cash flow.
  • Directs and oversees the analysis of financial, market, and operational data which includes identifying trends and providing recommendations for improvement.
  • Aligns the development and implementation of financial strategies with overall organizational strategies to optimize success and performance.
  • Assesses business risk exposure related to market dynamics and defines risk mitigation strategies to reduce impact on business performance.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or equivalent. Master's degree preferred.
  • Typically requires a minimum of 10 years of experience of global leadership in financial planning, analysis, accounting, reporting, and experience functioning as a key member on various strategic/operational planning and project teams.

Supervisory/Management Responsibility:

  • Prepares and approves department budgets while ensuring budgets are managed within approved guidelines.
  • Develops and approves departmental policies, procedures, and guidelines to meet business needs.
  • In partnership with human resources, oversees human resources responsibilities for staff which includes but is not limited to the following: hiring and terminating employees, promotions/pay adjustments, staff development, performance evaluations, resolution of employee concerns and disciplinary counseling.

Knowledge & Background Requirements:

  • Expert level knowledge and skills in financial reporting, planning, analysis, and cash flow management.
  • Strong strategic planning and leadership skills.
  • Ability to provide expert level business consultation on key strategic projects and to partner across various locations various departments to provide financial guidance and support.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate/collaborate effectively with all levels of staff, leadership, and external organizations. Relevant international experience and cross-cultural communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and analyze the underlying business and its implications on finance and accounting.
  • Expert level knowledge of all applicable finance and accounting principles, regulations, and procedures.
  • Advanced proficiency in using the Microsoft Office Suite. Proficiency with ERP software like JDEdwards, SAP, or equivalent.
