Wildan Performance Engineering is currently looking for an electrical engineer with experience that is focused on distributed energy resource systems (solar PV, battery energy storage systems, and microgrids) and Electric Vehicle (EV) infrastructure projects. This position could be remote or hybrid depending on the location. Preferred location for this role: CA, CO, NV, OR, WA, TX, or KS. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Electrical Engineer - Distributed Energy Resources and EV Infrastructure Design role is responsible for the development and design of distributed energy resource systems (solar PV and battery energy storage systems [BESS] and microgrids) and EV charging infrastructure projects with a focus on medium and low voltage power distribution, and renewable energy electrical system design engineering.

  • Supports WPE DER design team to identify, recommend, and implement new technologies in DER systems. Candidate must coordinate with technology and product vendors to review product capabilities and pricing to ensure suitability for projects.
  • Conduct preliminary site visits and investment grade level audits of facilities to field verify existing electrical conditions.
  • Create preliminary and conceptual designs with accompanying project cost estimates during DER & EV project development.
  • Design electrical systems upgrades, including sizing required electrical infrastructure, and producing single line diagrams, construction drawings and specifications for DER and EV infrastructure projects.
  • Perform engineering analysis and calculations, including but not limited to Available Short-Circuit Current, Arc Flash Potential, and Electrical Equipment specification & configuration for distributed energy resource and EV infrastructure.
  • Support utility interconnection process for DER & EV projects.
  • Supports the design of diverse, simultaneous projects of varying complexities.
  • Supports project design compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements and related specifications.
  • Monitor, track, and proactively coordinate the progress of projects under development, paying special attention to quality, effort against budget and schedule delivery.
  • Work closely with project development to support specification development and monitor the attainment of those specifications throughout the entire project delivery.
  • Write persuasive reports detailing project opportunities and solutions. Present findings clearly and professionally to peers and clients.
  • Pursue continual professional development.

Job Requirements / Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution is required.
  • Electrical Engineering P.E. license preferred (CA, WA and/or CO is a plus)
  • 5+ years of experience in the related field (Electrical Design Engineering)
  • 3+years of experience designing DER electrical systems (specifically PV, EV and BESS microgrids)
  • 5+ years of CAD experience (AutoCAD, Revit, Solidworks, Bluebeam)
  • 3+ years of experience estimating rough project costs.
  • The candidate must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate ideas and concepts in both written and oral form.
  • Be fully capable of working in design teams to assist in meeting the project goals in a team-focused environment.
  • Experience with commercial and public facility power distribution systems including generator and ATS systems is preferred.
  • Exposure to SCADA engineering and/or integrating BESS and microgrid controls into solar PV and EV infrastructure projects is a bonus.
  • Understanding of Energy ToolBase and Helioscope software for DER system simulations is preferred.
  • Up to 10% travel would be required.
